His work with the gut's nervous system has led him to think that in coming years psychiatry will need to expand to treat the second brain in addition to the one atop the shoulders."
This is really cool. The digestive tract literally functions without instructions from the brain/central nervous system. It even uses all the same neurotransmitters found in the brain.
It has a mind of its own, you could say.. Lol
