Fatigue
« on: April 12, 2015, 01:02:37 pm »
What foods do you guys recommend for helping fatigue? I just constantly feel tired.
For the last 16 days I have been strictly raw paleo. I have been eating:
Raw Ground Lamb
Raw Chicken Thighs
Some Beef
Honeycomb
Eggs
Bananas
Pineapples
Oranges
Some Vegetable juice every several days
Some raw vegetables like Tomato and cucumber.

It was very weird the first three-four days the fatigue was lifting and I started to feel better. Brain fog was getting better. Actually felt like talking to people(stuttering and social anxiety seem to get better sometimes). Went out for a run(and felt good afterwards). But for the following two weeks everything went back to my norms. Do an hour walk with my dog a day and for rest of the day I just lay on the couch playing on my phone and watching TV. I need help. I'm trying to emmulate what I was eating the first four days which was mostly Lamb and Chicken. Wasn't eating much eggs, fruit, honey, or tomatoes at first. But the fatigue is just constant like it usually is. I am running out of hope here I have constantly tried new things for my generally poor health for a long time and if a raw paleo diet does not work I know of nothing else I could try. Sometimes I wish I was just non-existant and it's sad because I want to enjoy life. I just can't and I am losing hope I'll ever find a way to.

Look, I needed  to tweak my RVAF diet  for c.8 months until I found a combination that finally started getting rid of my chronic fatigue. It took a further 4 months until I was largely free of my CFS symptoms. Even then, I had to experiment a lot to see what better dietary combinations would help me speed up my health-recovery.

Here are my suggestions:-

1) If you have already gotten fully used to eating raw, fresh meat(preferably 100% grassfed or wild/(or wildcaught seafood)), then you should eat "high-meat":-
http://www.rawpaleodietforum.com/display-your-culinary-creations/high-meat-recipe-preparation-for-more-advanced-rafers/

2) If you are only eating raw, grainfed meats, then do not expect much in the way of health-recovery. I have heard of a few vague claims from some people who claim to have recovered their health after eating raw, grainfed supermarket meats, but these are few and far between, and any health-recovery aided by  just raw, grainfed meats is highly likely going to be much slower.

3) Imo, ditch the raw veggie juice and switch to freshly squeezed fruit juice, preferably using organic fruit.

Oh yes, do not make the mistake of overeating. Generally speaking, most RPDers find that they need to eat fewer  quantities of (raw) food than the amount of foods they ate on a standard diet. Also, eating diverts the body's resources away from healing towards  digestion, so that eating all the time is a really bad idea for someone who is unhealthy.

Oh, and eating raw organs does speed up health-recovery for most people. Just make absolutely certain that they are from grassfed or wild sources, as the organs concentrate all the toxins from the body, so if the body is generally unhealthy from eating lots of grains, say, then you will not benefit either.

Tyler, you had good effects from eating adrenals, right?

I was never able to get hold of raw, fresh adrenals. I did manage to buy some incredibly expensive processed adrenal  and thyroid supplements from a Dr Ron Schmid for a time, but these did not seem to have any real effect on me. For other Americans, I should add that they shipped practically for free within the US, the trouble was that I not only had to pay for very expensive postage because they allowed no other delivery method, but I also had to pay expensive UK taxes. It pisses me off that most products within the US are the same amount in numbers as the equivalent  UK products, so are technically c. 1.6 times  cheaper than UK products given currency values, but the bloody UK government deliberately adds a huge  extra import tax in order to protect UK companies and allow them to keep on overpricing UK citizens.

I had access to all other raw organs other than glands, and those did indeed speed up my health-recovery.

Welcome to the neighbourhood! Hang in there Victor. It's worth the trouble as you will eat a lot less and feel no need to eat more and physically as well as mentally feel better. My dental issues are a memory.

As Tyler said there is a bit of a transition period while your gut bacteria/flora changes. When I switched, I was pretty healthy and it slowed me for about six months while I adjusted. I went completely cold turkey from vegan, so it was quite a change.

We found that raw chicken was pretty hard to take. Also initially really fresh ground meats were OK, but the thrill wore off. LOL Something about the cells being broken having an effect on the meat. Maybe it oxidizes... dunno

Anyways you will find what works for you and once it settles you'll be impressed.

I tried getting adrenals/thymus/thyroid locally, but abattoirs are not amenable to that. You'll probably have to find a farmer for that.

I have a theory that your body knows what is good for you and so programs your taste buds to make certain foods that you need taste good. Even if the theory is nonsense it's better than eating chicken. YMMV

Cheers
Al
