I cannot digest raw unsoaked hazelnuts, feel totally bloated, never tried to soak them though, but I know I am very sensitive to raw nuts in general...I prefer to eat raw when it comes to meat, eggs, and fruits (obviously) , but if I would have to eat hazels, I would definitely prefer them roasted... but maybe it's because my senses are still not in tune to real health foods because I havent done this that long , or...?
I remember after my fruitarian time years ago, when I started eating cooked again (but no junk), I totally enjoyed the taste of roasted hazels...
Many isles in the UK, that are nowadays completely denuded of trees, used to be full of hazels. Archeological sites have been found there where humans were roasting hazelnut on a very big scale, they found enormous amounts of burnt hazelnut shells and fire pits... I am bit confused concerning nuts, are we really supposed to eat them, and, do you really think they taste good raw...? One type of food I really miss, is roasted/cooked chestnuts... I've heard people eating them raw, but honestly, not sure if I would be able to enjoy/digest them... So, I'm still not clear about this question of eating nuts, or maybe it's just me...
