Plastic in the oceans is now a very serious danger. I have heard, for example, that a huge mound of plastic  covering many  millions or more of square kilometres is now found between Australia and New Zealand, these days.

I trust ancient sea salt such as that from the Himalayas. But you are correct that newly dried ocean salt is now tainted.
