UK Nanny State to impose more laws on food

Ok, so it is just a question of junk food this time. But the UK authorities have already severely harmed the grassfed meat industry over there, so, really, it is just a matter of time before they start harming RPD food sources  through other future laws.

Its sad how nobody ever seemed to notice the absurdity of using the image of a tiger to sell sugared corn cereal. Really the image of a carnivorous tiger is being used to sell sugar and starch to children.

Where I live there are billboards with a cartoon wild cat that promotes eating fruits and vegetables, as if the wildcat gets its power from starch and fruit sugar.

These cartoon characters are drawn to look robust, and vibrant and give the impression that if you eat what they are selling you'll be great. As stupid as advertising is, I dont think making cartoon mascots illegal is the solution. Id much rather see processed refined sugars be regulated as the drugs they are and have surgeon general warning labels on the front cover warning the public of the health dangers....then leave it up to the individual to heed the warning.

The trouble is that then, the authorities will also post absurd labels designating raw meat as being dangerous to public health etc. In the US, there have already been appalling laws introduced to curb raw dairy sales and the sale of raw oysters in Florida very nearly got banned as well. Joe Salatin etc. have the right idea.

The sad truth is that much of the meat sold in the market may be unhealthy, and such labels may be warranted. Im to the point of cynicism, having lost faith in the logical capacity of our government to competently regulate the food supply. So advocating for warning labels is about as far as I would go... though I wish the organization responsible for such labels was not run by corrupt interest...so they would be able to publicly distinguish between quality of meats....but that would hurt corporate Juggernaut factory farm interest who set the trade standards....so such honesty is unlikely to become a reality under the current capitalistic model...
