ARE REFRIGERATORS NECESSARY?

No need to race home with fresh raw fish, meat or poultry hurriedly to the refrigerator, just leave out in open air, sometimes covered to keep moist .    Ancient meat safe fitted on my wall has door and sides covered with perforated zinc, which can be replaced with open wire mesh to exclude only rodents.   Should give maximum exposure of raw food to atmosphere, environment and outdoor warmth.    Will ensure moisture is preserved and hope to advise on progress.

I'd rather do without them; they drain money and occupy space. I find things digest best when close to body temperature.

Here in tropical weather I need a refrigerator when I'm far from the wet market.
A few years ago I located my office beside the wet market and I did not need refrigeration.

If mold and bacteria have a hard time breaking down food while it is cold, then we will have a much harder time doing that. Even if the food rots faster without a refrigerator, my experiences say it is still edible; more digestible too.

Seems ideal answer for those wanting high meat in a hurry!   Produced some pleasantly tasting stinkfish from very, very fresh in moderately warm outdoor temperature in only three days!   Would have tasted even better in a week or two, but I was in a hurry!

Less-saturated fats - in cell membranes - oxidise rapidly when in warm temperature. And if the meat does not have enough air to support aerobic bacteria, there is a risk of ANaerobic bacteria producing botulotoxin - a very powerful neurotoxin (which you would most likely not realize the effects of - exactly because it destroys the nerve cells that would otherwise "warn" you to other toxins by fear/pain/...). I think the fridge is one of the most useful electric devices ever invented by a human ; maybe the most useful. When I eat cold animal parts I instinctively eat them a little more slowly than when I eat them warm ; my body heats them up.
