Dental Braces for 9 years old girl ...
« on: July 01, 2016, 03:45:36 am »

My cousin's daughter has very narrow face and jaw. She eats nothing healthy.

She eats/drinks practically no milk, no meat, no vegetables, no fish. She eats only bread and rice and noddles and that too not so much.

She already have health problems (nasal congestion 12 months, she could only breath through open mouth, no stamina to run or to walk longer, childish behaviour as compared to kids of her age.

Now dentist is saying that she has narrow jaw and new teeth are not getting enough space to come out at the proper place. Dentist suggested detal braces (which cost a lot) and still no guarantee that they will work at the end.

I am always telling her to eat properly, and she has responded little positively and now she has started drinking milk (raw milk, but not from grass fed cow). She has also eating fish finger. In fruits, she eats bananas, apples, strawberry and some  times also oranges (Raw Paleo is not for her as her parents are themselves not convinced).

How can I help this little girl?   :(

    • Raw Paleolithic Diet
Re: Dental Braces for 9 years old girl ...

I have tried converting people and it never works. I have seen people being more willing to die slowly and in pain rather than trying such a different diet as ours. I only started this diet once I had tried and failed with virtually all other diets other than the macrobiotic and Breatharian diets.

If she is willing to experiment with raw milk, there is hope. However, I used to have a  permanently runny/blocked nose for years due to my dairy-allergy, so maybe she is also dairy-allergic? Then, again, maybe I'm wrong.

You might suggest her doing the Weston-Price diet. It is more conventional than our diet and, I think, recommends only lightly cooking the food. Then there is all the marvellous tribal Noble-Savage quasi-holiness  about the Weston-Price diet that appeals to the more impressionable. The WPers  also focus on grassfed and nutrient-rich organ-meats. Plus, it should not be too difficult to persuade her to eat all or most of her plant food raw. The mainstreamish Hay Diet, for example, recommends eating plant foods all raw(ie 80% raw plant food, 20% cooked animal food).

Also, mainstream cooked-foodists are often willing to try eating raw animal food provided  it is socially-acceptable. So taking her to a Japanese Sashimi restaurant might be an option or for a steak tartare meal at a French/Russian/Hungarian restaurant. My local sushi bars in Vienna all have sashimi plates available as well. Then there is beef carpaccio and beef jerky which most people do not mind eating, despite them being raw.

Of course, giving healthy food/offering advice to one's relatives can, sometimes, destroy relationships. One acquaintance  of mine once gave, not on purpose, some nice, cooked soup to her young grandchildren for dinner. This incensed her evil daughter-in-law who afterwards sent a long letter to her mother-in-law threatening to prevent her ever seeing the grandchildren ever again. You see, she was the type who refused to cook(or do anything) and therefore fed her own children on a diet of 100% junk-food, mostly McDonald's. So she resented being (however inadvertently) shown up as being a bad mother.

Thank you Tylor.
I  have been reading about the different types of diets that you mentioned above and it is indeed helping me.

Vitamin K-2 is the most important for making the jaws large enough for all the teeth. It can be supplemented, but foods rich in it include natto and aged cheeses, the more aged the better. Vitamin D is very important as well, foods rich in it include fatty fish.

I am thankful for all the help.
Raw cheese could be a good addition. Actually, I already bought her raw milk Bergkäse (Mountain Cheese). But I then read that quality of Bergkäse is not good as it is heated above 37 degree Celsius.
Could you please name any/some, that could be bought in Germany (or may be bought online from France)? (I never ate cheese and thus have no knowledge about them).

Natto will be a challenge. I myself never ate it and I think it tastes strong (may be a problem for her to eat). Nevertheless, I will try.

Fish is also a problem. She eats only Fish finger. I have to make fish fingers from mackerel myself.

Doctor has already asked to get her the dental braces. Is it ok?

This little child sounds interesting. Are you close enough to your cousin's family to know how this situation came about? Usually, there are three broad possible explanations for a child's strange feeding patterns: (1) ignorant and neglectful parents who don't feed the right foods, (2) the child has hypersensitive taste buds and things do actually taste wrong in her mouth, and (3) some children have a more "contrary" personality than others and they do these things in defiance of some of their parents' wishes, just for the joy of feeling powerful.

If you think about what's going on to cause her behavior, you might find a useful strategy. I have a 6-year old granddaughter who wants only blueberries and grilled-cheese sandwiches. I think she is a little of #2 (hypersensitive taste buds) and a lot of #3 (defiant child). I've done things like let her dip a food in a dish of water to "wash off some of the taste." Yes, it's a ploy, but it works sometimes, along with a whole bunch of other tricks. My underlying strategy, though, is to accept and validate her pickiness so as not to increase her defiance, and give her lots of power when it comes to making other choices.

Let us know how it's going.

Child's mother has a lot of psychological issues. I am afraid that child has also inherited it from her mother. Lately, she has been diagnosed for having pituitary gland problems and 90% of it has been cut off.
But still she (the mother) has a lot of Nerves problems and she is close to Nervous break down. Soon she has to go to the Nerves Clinic  for 8 weeks where she will have no connection with the outer world including the family.

Actually I feel she (the mother) needs more help than the daughter.

The child has extra sensitive taste buds (the biggest problem).
She also has Problem no 1 too (mother cannot cook while all kind of work brings a lot of load to her nerves and she starts weeping or start abusing people around her). But father does his best to cook, but he cannot control all the things while family is little broken due to the mother.
She may also has the problem no 3 too (at least to some extent). Her behaviour is childish as compared to her age.

She is changing though with her age. She is now drinking a glass of raw milk every day (not grass fed milk). She has started eating a little ground meat. She eats only fish finger. But still no vegetables or salads.

Is there any good supplement for children in America? (I can order through iherb.com or on amazon for world wide dilivery).

Also, the next  big question will be how to help her mother too.

Your description of the family dynamic makes sense of the girl's behavior. As the late comedian Gilda Radner used to say, "If it's not one thing, it's your mother."

Since the mother is going into a program, she might get referrals for family counseling in a dire situation like this. If you just try to fix the girl's eating habits, you'll not get very far. This is how childhood looks for children from chaotic households. All the girl's weird behaviors are actually her way of coping. A good program will give her new ways to cope. She'll probably be working on her issues as an adult, for the rest of her life. Such is life.

There are healthy-ish foods for children - the kind of compromised health food that fills stores like Whole Foods Market. Here are a few that I've seen conscientious yuppie parents give their children: Lara bars (ground up snack bars with fruits and nuts), pureed baby food in a pouch (featuring vegetables pureed with some sweet fruit, like pear, to fool the kid into thinking that veggies should taste sweet), and non-fried vegetable chips (made from a variety of veggies, such as sweet potato, peas, carrots).

Smoothies are another way to load up a kid with hidden food. Not that I'm endorsing the junky health food route, but sometimes it's easier to fool a nine-year old than reason with one.

Braces are butchery. THey ruined my teeth. Its a giant money scam.

krozat is far superior in every way but its really hard to find someone who does it since the orthodontists will crucify you for doing it.

I know a dentist who does it but he does it quietly since hes afraid of the orthodontists. Hes in nyc and i can refer you if you want.

raw cheese is indigestible on its own and is only good for detox, acting as a sponge, it is very good in that regard however.. You wont absorb any of the minerals in it unless you mix it in the mouth with unheated honey before swallowing.

Make sure the cheese is unsalted as Ihave noticed cheese especially does not have nearly the same effect when salt is involved. If you cant find unsalted raw cheese then leave some milk out until it seperates completely. Then run it through a cheese cloth and  take whats in the cheese cloth and spread it on a plate. Leave that out until it dries to cheese level and its ready to eat, very easy.

That cheese thing is not true for me. I have to have magnesium with cheese, or it constipated me. In fact, a lot of people report constipation from cheese, which is due to the excess calcium, I'm pretty sure.

yes constipation from cheese is quite is quite common. This is not due to calcium but to fact that it is a dried food. The enzymes are absent and it has a very low moisture content.

The lack of enzymes is why honey is needed to digest it since it provides the necessary enzymes.

For those who experience problems with constipation and cheese it is recommended to eat lots of raw fat such as butter when consuming cheese.

Mostly it's the calcium, although the lack of moisture does play a role. A smaller one.

theres no enzymes. Thats why you cant digest it. You need enzymes for digestion.

Really? Then why can I just eat straight bone meal and get constipated, straight magnesium and get disrrhea, and pure sugar or fat and gain energy? No enzymes in any of those, but absorbable and usable anyway.

Let's not lose credibility by making demonstrably false claims, mmkay?

Lack of enzymes is not the only thing that can make a food indigestible.

What you are saying doesnt make sense, at the very least syntax-wise, perhaps you need to reword it to be more understandable. You say everything that you listed is absorbable yet you say bone meal makes you constipated and magnesium gives you diareah. DO you consider things absorbable if you get constipation or diarreah from them?

it is an undisputed fact that enzymes are an important part of digestion.

By "absorbable" I mean something that enters my bloodstream and has the typical action of that substance in my body. Magnesium and calcium are definitely getting at least partially absorbed in the gut, as long as they are dissolved and in solution. No enzymes required for that.

But sure, enzymes are important for digesting some foods. They're just not everything in the process of digestion.

I am already convinced that Krozat/Crozat is far superior way after reading about it.
I tried to search for a Crozat specialist in my country, but failed up till now.
Nevertheless, I got a reply from one person about it.
He wrote: "Unfortunately, most Crozat gurus are gone now and the newer, easier-to-use appliances (sagittal, Herbst, DNA, etc.) are much more popular. Rest assured, the newer appliances accomplish the same thing as the Crozat but generally in a more efficient manner."

Do you know about these new appliances (sagittal, Herbst, DNA)?

There are 3 doctors in my city and the surroundings. And all have very good ratings from other people.

Thanks.
