Fish and chip shops becoming more expensive
« on: July 22, 2017, 06:57:11 pm »

While UK fish and chip shops have never exactly been ideal given the hydrogenated oils they used when cooking their fish, they have at least had higher standards compared to other  fast-food outlets.Still, it's worrying how the cost of wildcaught fish is constantly soaring, as mentioned in the above article. It's bad enough to find overpriced seafood in a landlocked country like Austria, but the current overfishing is a disaster for the future. I gather that a few areas of the ocean have been turned into marine national parks, which have , ironically, caused fish populations nearby to rise in numbers, but it's nowhere near enough.

It's a shame. I'm going to miss being able to afford wild caught fish and am dreading the day they become unaffordable.
