What causes sepsis, who is at risk

Sepsis seems to kill a lot of people, especially old people. Is it an extreme detox reaction to toxins?

According to medical science its bacteria entering the bloodstream

Looking further into it the vast majority of sepsis comes from surgeries, medication, alcohol, processed food. Your chances of getting sepsis as a healthy individual is very low. Its basically the body being overwhelmed with toxicity.
