Are they any rawpaleo bodybuilders today ?

I wonder if a rawpaleo diet is appropriate to put on excessive muscles ?

It should be easier to eat tons of pastas than tons of raw fat!

It's appropriate to put on natural musculature, that can be very impressive
tons of pasta + steroids indeed make excessive muscles, but they look really disgusting

Yeah i'd agree with that, theres such a difference between the look of Mega BB's now than back in the 'old days'. I do recall reading an article about a relatively successful and known BB of the past (maybe last 10-20years) who was known for eating large ammounts of raw meat. I remember it vividly because of a story about him eating raw steak on a park bench in some brown paper, accidently ripping the steak from the paper hiding it, and apparently getting a very funny look from the women with the raw steak hanging from his mouth! :)

I'll try and find the article if I have time, it was quite cool.

(just found the guys name, Armand Tanny)

I liked this quote by Randy Roach so much that I stuck it in a coaching book I edited:

"...it was in the early 70s that the lipid hypothesis began to take hold. The result was a series of diets that emphasized carbohydrates over protein and fats. The pre-game meal of beef was giving way to one of lasagna or spaghetti."

-Randy Roach, "Splendid Specimens: The History of Nutrition in Bodybuilding," in Wise Traditions in Food, Farming and the Healing Arts, the Weston A. Price Foundation quarterly journal, Fall 2004.

Years ago, most college and pro and even high school sports teams used to share a team meal together the night before each important game--many did it before every game. Invariably and with ritualistic sameness, the meal was steak and potatoes. Nowadays, athletes are allowed to order what they want individually, and they tend to order pizza, spaghetti, lasagna, sub sandwiches and other junk.

It's interesting how much of Vince Geronda's views anticipated current Paleo-type trends:

> Intense abbreviated training: the benefits of this were re-discovered by Art De Vany, who refers to the overall program as Evolutionary Fitness.
> Nutrition as "85-90 percent of bodybuilding": perhaps somewhat exaggerated, but basically in line with the sometimes astounding results from Paleo-style diets in overall health and robustness if not always physique
> Instead of drugs he advocated some Paleo foods like eggs, dried testicles, raw or roasted meat, kelp, dried liver extract, raw/steamed veggies and salad, bananas (along with cream and green juices--very AVish--and among his supplements the very unPaleo wheat germ): "he advocated up to 36 eggs a day for 6 to 8 weeks to produce muscle buildup"
> "alternated a low-carbohydrate diet with periods of carbohydrate loading": now called Cyclical Ketogenic Dieting (CKD); similar to the natural seasonality and intermittentness of hunter-gatherer diets

Vince had his head screwed on correctly when it came to nutrition. His personality was a bit of a mouthful tho, supposedly. But just look at that image of him. He worked against his genetics and the symetri and harmony in his build is just awe insipiring. He ideas are only now comming in from the fringe.

As Arnold (governator) walked into vinces Gym he proudly and loudly proclaimed "I am arnold, title holder of this, the master of that". Vince looks up from behind his glasses and answer calmly; "oh yeah? you look like just another fat fuck to me". Supposedly meeting Vince made Arnold a better person, in his own words.
