Nightshades affect Arthritis, no doubt...

I firmly believe that I was acquiring degenerative arthritis in my neck. I used to think I was straining it in my weightlifting routines, but I haven't lifted weights in months. It kept reoccurring. I would wake up with a painful stiff neck, and it would slowly loosen up during the day. Anyway, I stopped getting it when I gave up all plant foods. This makes a great deal of sense since one of the last plant foods I gave up were tomatoes and cayenne pepper.

Well, a few weeks ago, I started using paprika and cayenne on my beef jerky, and the painful stiffness came back again with a vengeance. It's been about three weeks since I stopped using the seasonings and My neck feels totally fine.

For me, this trial and error confirms the connection.

If you know anyone with arthritis, I would definitely recommend they try eliminating nightshades.

Yes, and Cordain and others have connected nightshades to multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and other diseases of civilization. I experienced significant health improvements when I cut out all nightshades. Goodsamaritan also reported this.

Hmm, I read that cayenne pepper actually relieves arthritis(unsurprising given the way it works on the pain receptors).

Yes, the capsicum in spicy peppers is a pain numbing agent. As I heard it, it actually works counter-intuitively by CAUSING pain and overwhelming the pain receptors with the flood of mild pain, causing them to either shut down or become inured to low levels of pain and raise the threshold of pain they require to fire off pain signals to the brain.

Ironically, ingesting the peppers contributes to creating the arthritis pain that they are used to treat.

Keep in mind that toxic foods are used medicinally by all primates, including aboriginal humans. Humans and primates with knowledge of medicinal plants generally understand that they are toxic and should not be eaten regularly. Much of this knowledge gradually became lost as modern drugs replaced the old natural cures. Some of the modern meds are actually made from the old plant cures--aspirin, for example, is made from willow tree bark.

So you can use capsicum topically to treat muscle and joint pain, but I would not ingest it--especially not regularly.

Cayenne is fantastic for blood circulation.  Use only when needed.  I make cayenne tincture as a home remedy.

Other than cayenne, we are a nightshade free family.

About 20 years ago, I had arthritis in my hands and knees. My hands where in the beginning stages of that tell tale deformation and I was in constant pain. Nothing worked and I was on my way of conventional medicine, steroids etc.  At the recommendation of a Naturopath, I did a trial elimination of all night shade vegetables for a month. Within a month, I was pain free. I have not added any night shade vegetables back into my diet. The deformation in my hands had 95% reversed. It makes me soooo angry with the conventional  medical community!!!! Instead of taking people off certain foods first and see if that works (like in my case), they pump people full of chemicals that puts their health in a downspin.
It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.
