Luscious, purple, sweet,

Oh cherries that I love so true,

I've gone back and forth on favorite fruits, at one time is was cherries. I had a real thing for mangos as well. In the berry family I like blueberries the best.

Goodness... I love fruit so much it's hard to pick favorites.
Raspberries are really good, but I eat way more strawberries.

In about a month, seagrapes and cocoplums will be getting ripe. They're wild so I may be so inclined to eat as many as I can pick. They're like crabs though - a lot of work for a little flesh.

Blueberries are my favourite, with strawberries and cherries coming a close second and third.

I'm missing out on berries.
I live in a tropical country and berries aren't common here.

Yellow mangoes are popular summer fruits in the Philippines.

I think I stone fruit is a fruit with one large seed in it. Examples are peaches and avocados.

I see.

So, sea grapes and coco plums must fit into that category too. What's the significants of a stone fruit other than it has one seed? Is there a nutritional difference?

I must tell you that mangoes would stick in between my teeth and gums like cooked meat would.

Cantaloupe/honeydew/watermelon--they aren't too sweet. Strawberries, grapes, and other berries make me cringe a little from the sweetness.

Mango gets stuck in my teeth too.

I used to eat cases of mangos when I was raw vegan and the cure I found for that is to chew on a stalk of celery after the mango gets in your teeth and the celery strands pull it out.

The technique to slicing mangoes is to be left with a very thin bone in the middle.
You eat the fleshy parts with a spoon.
The fleshy part doesn't stick to your teeth.
It's when you get to the seed that sticks to your teeth.

Of course I don't know if your mangoes are the same as what we got here.
I believe you also get mangoes from south america.

Yellow mangoes don't really have much of the fibrous material but the red and green ones do. I've only had the yellow mangoes grown from a neighbor's own tree. The red and green fibrous ones are what's commonly sold in supermarkets and farmer's markets.

Are Philippine mangoes yellow?

Yes.

The commercialized ones are usually the carabao mangoes.  Colored yellow.
Commercial meaning they are sprayed.
They are the sweetest and taste really good.

A non-commercial one is the pico mango. More yellow orange.

The indian mango is green and grows wild without any care.

When mango gets stuck in my teeth mostly is when i'm scraping the left over fruit off the seed.

I don't eat around the seed much but it still gets in my teeth eventually. I used to eat a lot of them at a time (up to a dozen) and usually it would only start to get in my teeth around the second or third and it would become annoying at the 6th or so.

Oh my gosh, 12 mangoes at a time?
I like yellow mangoes when they are in season.
But the most I can eat in 1 sitting is 2.

Nothing beats a tree ripe peach with the juice dripping from your chin.  Darn it, now I wish I could still eat them... :(

Who's the masochist that started this thread anyway?????
