Raw Glandulars
« on: July 29, 2008, 07:05:20 pm »
I just thought I should mention that I've noticed that my irises have cleared up a little more since going in for raw adrenal glandular from Dr Ron's website (3 pills a day, I don't eat the gelatin capsule). My irises started off being very dark(almost black) when I first started rawpalaeo, then they lightened a little around the edges for the first month or two, but became extremely dark again once I included raw dairy in my diet for the next 6 months. Anyway, my irises then slowly started to clear over the next 2 years and then the process stopped, mostly - which was most odd as I was feeling fine, after the various pre-raw health-conditions had all been cleared up around then. Anyway, since taking these raw adrenals has seemed to have such an effect on my irises, I'm now going in for other supplements like thyroid, brain, pancreas(all raw). In the past, I've always maintained that the healthiest approach was to eat as wide a variety of raw organ-meats as possible(ie "like cures like", but I gave up a little, for a while, this notion , partly because my previous health-conditions had been sorted out so I didn't feel the need, and partly because it was an uphill struggle to get hold of the rarer organs, so I just gave up. I can only assume that while a mainly  (raw) muscle-meat/fat diet can do a lot of healing, that if one has seriously damaged organs of any kind, one should make strenuous efforts to get hold of those specific raw organs from grassfed animals, for 100% optimal health.

The adrenals were from Dr Ron's site and ultimately came from organic-raised/grassfed cattle in New Zealand.

You know what they say: A picture is worth a thousand words.  I hope you can show us the difference in your irises sometime.

I hope to get more organs/glands from my farmers soon. I really should raise my own sheep.  I bought an old book on sheep husbandry last week.  I just know there are rules about what can be sold etc. and growing my own means I can do what I want without resale considerations.

Have you worked with raw pancreas yet?  I've been eating some of one the last couple of days.  Is there somewhere I can look at diagrams of bovine organs?  I want to understand every part I might eat.

I used to take the multiorgan supplement which had a little freeze-dried  pancreas in it.

What is it in the glands that helps? AFAIK, if you eat hormones in meat they won't affect you...why hrt isn't given orally e.g. They could have some sort of precursor in that helps you make it. I tried to look it up but couldn't find much info.

I think it's valid to eat them because paleo's did or whatever...just interested whether anyone knows the reasons.

I've seen oral HGH supplements. It could just be that they have certain vitamin and mineral or other aspects that help with a particular condition.

I am eating maybe two or three ounces of raw pancreas at the start of each meal.  From Bison.  I must really need it, for to me it tastes great.  Really seems to help with digestion.  But it has to be one of the ugliest things out there. At least to others.  I would try to eat only grass fed organs, and from healthy grass fed animals.  Try to know your source.

I like the taste too.  I may start eating it like you, a little every day before meals.  I like thymus too.  I still want to try brain and some other organs/glands I couldn't get.

Hello my friends

I desperately need your help. I primarily address to those who order fresh glands regularly. It would have been great if you could take a good quality photo of the raw whole thyroid gland and post it here.

endlessly thankful

I wish the best to you with this, rawlion.  I have not seen thyroid yet, unless maybe once as a child.  I think I remember my Mother preparing sweetbreads once.

wow, i think you're on to something. the first time i tried pancreas (about a year ago) i hated it and couldn't finish it. i just got some by accident the other day and it tastes way better now to the point where im craving it. i also noticed a big lift in my digestion when eating a little at the start of a meal. thanks for bringing this up. gotta agree though, it's about the least appetizing-looking organ around.

My Korean H Mart sells pig adrenals. What is the opinion of this?

Those are probably not from healthily-fed pigs.  Try a little, though. You might like it, and you can always seek out a healthier source for adrenals later.

I used to eat a lot of pancreas.  I tended to over due it,  I think it caused some stress to my liver,??,  it felt uncomfortable in that area.  So not really sure. but I was eating one to three pounds a week.

I'd say so. Besides, things like pancreas shouldn't be needed by a child so much. An older person would need them after decades on a cooked diet. of course.

just found out i can get grass fed veal pancreas at whole foods. pretty cool. it's frozen but whatever. i usually am able to get grass fed beef pancreas from a guy at the farmer's market but he hasn't had any for a while and said he won't get another for a few weeks. the veal pancreas is really expensive from whole foods, but it's nice to know that i can get it (it's $13 a pound!). i think im gonna start eating a little before meals again.

anyone know what a lamb thymus or thyroid looks like? i just bought some lamb neck and it had part of an organ in it. it looks a lot like pancreas (pale pinkish and same texture). not sure what it is really. any help appreciated. a picture would be even better!
