Confirmed - Beef Offals are not sold in Singapore
« on: July 24, 2010, 08:33:54 am »
After searching my ass off, the only offals I can find are pork and it is not fed its' natural diet. None of the meat here in Singapore is fed its natural diet, except for beef. Bone marrows are all removed. No raw diary.

What do I do now? So far my only food sources are..

Eggs (Pain in the ass to get organic so I just get the standard supermarket ones)
100% Grass Fed Beef Meat (Fats are frowned upon in Singapore, most cuts especially Ribeye, costs a bomb)
Sashimi (Expensive E.G SGD$8.90 per 100g for Salmon, mostly farmed, oysters are $2 each)
Caviar (Almost puked after having some at a restaurant but I could get used to them)

My mum supports me a little now because I got her addicted to Kajiki Sashimi and I promised her my health would improve over time. ;)

P.S You guys tried Red Snapper Sashimi? OUT OF THIS WORLD. Cuttlefish is awesome too.

New Zealand lamb is 100% grassfed and sold in many countries, i eat it alot. It's delicious, cheap and fairly fatty. Find out if it's sold in sg.

Out of curiosity, do you or anyone know what's the grassfed situation in China, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia? I'd love to go there one day for a couple of months. I'm gonna assume that the poorer the country is, the more likely they can't afford grains so animals are fed 100% their natural diet so i'd think meat sold in farmer markets in those countries is all grassfed, with the possible exception of urban China as they're richer.

New Zealand lamb is 100% grassfed...

Can you back that statement up? I was wondering this not long ago and didn't find anything definite.

That's great she's into it now.  What is Kajiki?  Wow, so English is the state language there?

PrimalLadyRosy - Swordfish. :D I guess it's more of speak in whatever language you want, as long as the other party understands and of course Singlish. Singapore's own unique English not taught in textbooks. Heh.

Nation - They are bone thin and no offals either. Not really sure about China, Malaysia and Indonesia but I'm pretty sure Thailand has insects to eat. Live and cooked ones. Not sure about beef though. I wouldn't dare touch China's though...

in every city, country what have you, there is always some people, whether elderly folk, farmers, or chefs, or culinary arts people, who LOVE old traditional ways of eating and cooking. find those people instead of searching in supermarkets.
for instance, since you have the internet: what is the traditional ancient diet of singapore?

That's a great idea.  Get your meat from Malaysia.

Singapore's custom would not allow any form of consumables into the area. Only persevered kinds.

Is that for real?  Do you live in a prison camp?

I mean, just get in your car, drive out to Malaysia, go to the nearest wet market, but an Ice chest full of food in your car trunk and drive back home to Singapore.  Is that illegal?

Yes, unless I have an import/export license or driving under a company, which, I am not and I can't drive. I have epilepsy.. I should stick to buffets I guess. I could eat raw oysters till I puke but it's hella expensive.

Any more ideas, guys?

Next best thing is to get in touch with a fellow Singaporean and you might want to ride with him to and fro Malaysia.

Oysters expensive there?  I just had a dinner of oysters 1 kilo with shell for just 40 Philippine pesos, less than 1 US dollar.

Shitty, polluted oysters = $1.50SGD each I think
Good quality oysters = $2.00SGD each

Fellow singaporean? I have checked my connections. There is just no way to get beef offals imported to Singapore. Suets do not exist here.

dwight - your first step should be to get a written physician's prescription to eat whatever it is you want to eat.

After that, speak with your Member of Parliament.

I know the mind of the Singaporean bureacrats.   They love to step on your freedom, but  given a peice of paper to cover their ass - and an implied threat to drag their name through the newspapers - they will back off.

Carrot and stick strategy.....

Hi Dwight.  Did you try them?  If you do, tell how they are, ok?  I never had beef lung or croc.  I bet many members here haven't either.
