What's Your Version of Raw Carnivorous/ZC?
« on: August 16, 2010, 02:39:42 am »
Here's how I'm defining the options:

1. Raw* Facultative Carnivore (faunivore**): eats some plant foods, but they're not a major or necessarily essential part of the diet (examples: PaleoPhil; some indigenous Arctic peoples like Inuits and Chukchis; lorids; wolves, foxes, wild and domestic dogs); around 90+% of the diet is carnivorous; little or no dairy
2. Raw Obligate Carnivore (faunivore): only nondairy animal foods with maybe the occasional exception as a treat (examples: Lex--though he has said he may add back some plant foods in the future and doesn't see obligate carnivory as necessary for humans; maybe Katelyn; the traditional Greenland Inuit and coastal Chukchi came close at 99% carnivorous, but would probably have eaten more plant foods if they could have; tarsiers; big cats like lions and domestic cats)
3. Raw Zero Carb: tries to avoid all carbs as much as possible, including liver, shellfish, eggs and milk (examples: Katelyn comes close, but I think she eats some liver and eggs now)
4. Raw Animal Foods: includes dairy products; under 10% or so of diet as plant foods (I believe at least several people here; traditional pastoral peoples like Evenks and Masai)

* I'm defining raw as more than 90% raw foods, including the majority of animal foods eaten raw
** I'm assuming that it's not necessary to use the lesser-known term faunivore instead of carnivore in the actual voting options list, because I doubt anyone here regularly eats a lot of insects or small invertebrates like sponges, but if you do then please select the option that comes closest to your diet and post that you're actually a faunivore and mention what you eat.

Right now, raw animal foods describes me best because I still include raw dairy in my diet.  However, I am only using it as a temporary and delicious fat source until I can find a better one, where I would then ideally switch to raw facultative carnivore, to be more Wolfish of course.   ;D  I would prefer to eat as much of a Wolfish diet as I can.
I still also eat fruit sometimes, but of course it isn't major or necessary, as for the passed few days I actually haven't eaten any fruit at all.  I've only been eating meat and dairy.. I don't know where eggs fall, I've seen them listed as dairy which makes sense, but then there are plenty of animals that eat eggs without drinking milk of course.  But I do eat eggs everyday when they are available.  I wonder if Wolves ever eat eggs?  I could probably replace eggs with organ meats if I could find them, but so far they've been pretty hard to find anything but commercial grain-fed beef liver and foster farms chicken livers.
Hi, I'm 32, around 5'4" and ~124lb, no real significant health problems other than hyperventilating when running/exercising (that my doc said was because of the smog/asthma), fatigue, and really bad acne.
I'd preferably be a carnivore/very low carb, but I have had a very hard time finding grass-fed or even organic fats, organs, and marrow. I consume raw dairy, but I do not eat much vegetables.. however, I do love fruit.
I live with my dad, so I also have to sneak any raw meat eating.

Raw Obligate Carnivore. :)
The last non-animal food I ate was about a dozen blueberries 2 weekends ago when my wife and I brought our nice and nephew berry picking. The fresh off the bush sun-ripened berries got to me eventually and I snacked on one here or there as we picked. I still felt a hit to my physical performance and my mental performance the next 2 days but in hindsight it might have still been worth it. :)

In a similar fashion to Wolf, I too have recently re-introduced raw butter and egg yolks into my diet due, mainly, to the great difficulty I have obtaining sufficient quantities of other raw animal fats.  Therefore, I clicked RAF.

But, otherwise it would've been Raw Facultative Carnivore for me.

I'm in for ROC, but if I can one day be RFC that will be great :)  Dan's blueberry experience is not providing hope though :P

ha ha :)  Yes, sorry to hear you finally succumbed to nature's temptations at this time of year Dan!  I recently did the same with raspberries found in the woods near my house.  Back on the wagon!

Nice new signature pic Ioanna!

You only live once. ;D
It was a clear cut hit to how I felt though. Every day that week my wife and I had gone on a 4 mile bike ride after work which was strenuous but felt good and wasn't too much. I had a really hard time keeping up with her that Sunday after the berries and my legs were on fire; a clear signal things were amiss for me.

I can't believe even berries can be so effective!

thanks Michael!, and what was the raspberry story?

I guess I thought if I ate any plant matter that berries would be a first try.  Despite trying some new animal foods lately, I'm not yet included to try any veg yet.

In my yard I think are wild strawberries??... they are so small though... about half of a lima bean.  They look so pretty in the green grass, and entirely unappetizing, lol... they look like a waste of time :D

I love fruit, and I will eat it if I can get it.  >>;
I'm surprised fruit has such a huge impact on people though, I haven't noticed too much of a difference after running out of fruit and remaining purely raw animal foods for the passed couple days, and I know that Wolves eat fruit occasionally.. Probably not as much as I do, though, lol.
