Newbie looking into Raw Paleo - Adrenal Fatigue
« on: September 02, 2010, 06:07:47 pm »
Hi,

I have been reading into the Raw Paleo diet as I figure it may be a useful tool to help my adrenal fatigue. Adrenal function has strong links with digestion. Anyhow I have a few questions, and would be cool if anyone could throw their thoughts my way.

1. Has anyone helped adrenal fatigue with a raw paleo diet?

2. Is it very un-wise to go raw paleo with foods from the supermarket, even if they are Organic and free-range? Or is it even more un-wise to eat them cooked!!

I guess any non-organic stuff from the supermarket is a definate no no? Would it be better to cook these non organic foods (Lambs liver, Pork, Chicken fillets) medium rare rather than thoroughly, or is that defeating the object?

3. Obviously anyone starting out to eat their meat foods raw is gonna be concerned with food poisoning and parasite infections. In your experience what is the best way to get over these concerns?

The vast majority of rawpalaeos avoid supermarkets like the plague and either buy from farmers' markets or directly from farms. I myself generally only use them for things like black bin-bags ( or rarely, free-range, organic eggs or organic fruit, but never raw meats, however "organic" they may be as they're usually grainfed etc.). The trouble with supermarkets is that, like all large companies, they are focused on profits which means economies of scale which means greater quantities being sold at as low a quality they can get away with. Actually, supermarkets are deceptively more expensive than farmers. Farmers don't have to add retail-costs to the prices of their meats so can sell raw meat to you more cheaply than WholeFoods(otherwise known as "WholePayCheck").

Also, I had severe adrenal fatigue(adrenal burnout) pre-rawpalaeo and this rawpalaeodiet helped get rid of this condition along with related conditions like chronic fatigue etc. It took some years, though, to fully recover - although, many symptoms did vanish 4 months after cutting out all raw dairy from my RVAF diet.

Thanks for the info Tyler,

If only supermarket meat, fish and eggs are available, do you think it is still best to eat raw, or would you lightly cook the meat (rare, medium), or would you cook it thoroughly? Or is this situation unthinkable for yourself?

Also how do raw paleo's explain food poisoning?

I don't have an explanation for food poisoning, so someone more knowledgeable in that area will have to comment.

However, I think you're over thinking this a bit. If supermarket meat is all that is available, my opinion is that eating it raw is still a better choice than anything cooked.

I'm eating Nolan Ryan's grain fed beef raw right now and am having no problems. Although I don't enjoy the taste quite as much as grass fed, organic meat.

Don't aim for perfection, aim for progress. If you can gain access to a farmer or a local butcher that is in contact with a local farmer then great. If not, just do it to the best of your ability.

I too have some adrenal problems. I also have a very weak pancreas and candida. I was an alcoholic for several years and did quite allot of damage to my body.

Not sure about curing adrenal problems yet. Am still too new to it myself.

Again thanks for the info,

Perfectionism is certainly a trait of mine.

Good luck with your own adrenal recovery. It is my belief that diet can make a massive impact in this area, and also Meditation is a very useful technique to practice.

Rawpalaeos explain food-poisoning by pointing out how frequently SAD-eaters get food-poisoning via eating bacteria-rich cooked foods.. Eat raw, rubbish foods if you must, but anything is better than cooked.
