plant root flour, how does that compare to wheat?

Also known as the caveman diet, the regime frowns on carbohydrate-laden foods like bread and cereal, and modern-day adherents eat only lean meat, vegetables and fruit.

Only lean meat?

Curious about your guys take on this article.

My take on all this existence of ancient food is...  That's interesting.

But more importantly is:

What works now?

Where are you healthiest?

What cures diseases?

Isn't it a coincidence that the collection of things that truly work are paleo diet and lifestyle?

There will always be an exception to anything. This is one of those exceptions. Just because they ate it doesn't make it ideal. Not to mention I doubt this was a very widespread practice.

True, just cause they were Paleolithic people doesn't mean they did everything right, I mean they weren't dietary gurus or anything, most of them were not extremely intelligent either, they probably wanted to see "how can we eat this gruesome unedible grain thingies? lets crush them and fire it up!"

The article writes:
"The findings may also upset fans of the Paleolithic diet, which follows earlier research that assumes early humans ate a meat-centered diet."

I don't think it should upset anyone, most modern-Paleo people say "if it HAS to be cooked to eat then don't eat it"....they don't say "eat and do everything the exact same way the cavemen did it" do they? When nature designed man it didn't know or prdict he was gonna make grain pancakes, it just designed him to eat from the land around him. Modern-Paleo people should eat like nature meant for them to eat, which doesn't include grain pancakes.

I bet cavemen did some other things we may not consider doing heh heh  >D

when famine attacks in a country, and there's no sign of living animals exist, people will depend on the availability of other sources to survive. so, there's no way, we can draw a conclusion that paleolithic men never eat such a thing like bread.

i know that plant root flour is absolutely gluten free and way better than wheat flour. i don't eat them personally, 'cause animal proteins are enough for me now.

I like this logic.
Humans are survivors.
Hell, I'd eat that bread if all other paleo food were unavailable.

the most popular current practiced version of 'The Paleo Diet' is mostly cooked lean meats vegetables and raw fruits, vegetables and nuts and seeds. It includes for some nut and tuber powders baked into things. crazy! :)

The only thing I know is that the Tyrolean Iceman was found with all kinds of grains and things in his system, Its not 30,000 years old but I wouldn't be surprised if these things were eaten much earlier than many folks here might suspect. To me it makes sense that cooking and processing of plant matter has existed for a very long time, and probably the reason folks started cooking meats as well and not the other way around. Not necessarily something I've read somewhere. just my person opinion.

Well, cavemen were big fans of cannibalism, human sacrifice and infanticide. Indeed 1 author once tried to suggest that the reason our ancestors grew bigger brains was because of their fondness for hominid brains.

The Tyrolean corpse mentioned is "Oetzi", who lived only 5000 years ago. However, a previous study showed grains consumption(grass seeds) 100,000 years ago. Cordain pointed out with evidence  that they were only  a minimal part of their diet.

Cooking started because of a necessity to get more calories out of plant food, such as grains.

Now, if you were on a deserted island and you could only collect grains/roots, what would you do? Would you try fermenting, cooking or sprouting them?
