Step 1:- Catch raw fish in the surrounding sea as they provide some moisture content.

Step 2:- Eat any fellow passengers in the lifeboat and drink their blood(eg:- draw straws beforehand to see who loses but cheat etc.)

I would do the above and even drink seawater as the notion of drinking my own excretions is just too revolting. I view urine therapy to be a dismal joke.

Do you think it is morally permissible to eat another human being, even if there was a fair procedure like drawing straws to justify the end result? Although you said you would cheat, so maybe I got the answer to that already. What if you drew straws and you lost? And then you changed your mind about the straw game, would it be morally permissible for the rest of the passengers to take your life?

Or, what if one of the passengers consented to give their life up so you could feed on him, would it then be morally permissible to take his life?

Survival is the only suitable morality. Besides, cannibalism was most definitely a characteristic of palaeolithic times, whereas urine therapy wasn't.

Let me ask you this, then. If you were at the target end of the cannabilism, would you still be ok with it?

eating people aside, all life-boats should have a kit for water distillation...which is very simple, then you can separate salt out of the water and have clean water....on just water alone people can survive for a long time and may not even have to cannibalize before they are rescued

Naturally not.

Either use the water-distillation kit like Yuli said, or:

You could lick the condensation that forms on the inside of the boat.

You could use someone's glasses to magnify the sun and heat up some water in a small container, and catch the evaporation on something above to let it condense and drip into another vessel.

You could piss in a bucket or use the sea-water, spin it round really fast and drink with a straw or scoop out water from the area with the least energy.

Would repeated filtration with your clothes work, or not because the salt is dissolved? I

My GF and I tried urine therapy for a period of time many years ago. (Before we met) The first time was similar to the first time I drank 151 rum from Saint Pierre et Miquelon France. (Tiny islands south of Newfoundland that are French possessions)

However it was not bad after that. Just don't drink the first and last. The first is too pungent and the last is useless therapywise.

It tastes like the last meal you had. Long term for guys it runs hormones like testosterone back through you so will increase temper. Great for chronic diseases but unless I am in a row boat with "nar a bit a water" I'd probably pass........sorry couldn't resist.
Cheers

ROFL!  ;D

The trick is to drink a bit of seawater every few hours before being thirsty. If we wait, then we eventually become so thirsty that we cannot resist to drink it without restrain and that proves fatal.

For food, I would eat the girls first because their fat / muscle ratio is more favorable  ;)  ;D

Cause and effect are distant in time and space in complex systems, while at the same time there’s a tendency to look for causes near the events sought to be explained. You won't need neither drink your urine nor kill someone if you follow my advice - at least for fluids intake. Since we are not overloaded with salt from the start, we might be able to drink without problems more seawater than salted food eaters - just speculation : it should be verified by an experiment. Any volunteers? Girls?  ;D
