Food combining question (quick please) :D
« on: January 16, 2011, 12:43:43 am »
Can I drink fresh squeezed orange juice after medium rare lamb leg and some rice??
I am finishing my meal and I want orange juice sooo much!

Its a good combination ?(Acidic fruits help digest protein? )
Is it better to wait half hour?

Thank you!!!

conventionally no

but the rice/protein would also be considered poor food combing so...

CW also says that cooked protein takes more than a few hours to digest, particularly with starch and is better eaten at the end of the day if you are messing around with raw foods

I would only do fruit or vegetable juices in the morning or hours after eating simple raw foods. or you are guaranteed fermentation. But I'm sure no one has ever died this way, or would necessarily give all people symptoms.

yeah, you're better off eating the lamb with some bell peppers, radishes or cucumbers than rice.
I would be more concerned about the rice than the orange juice.
If you're serious about RPD at all,you should know that grains are one of the biggest no-no's ;)

Seignalet experimentally found out that rice seems to be the least harmful cereal. I sometimes (very seldom) eat a small amount of raw unpolished and non heat dried rice, soaked 48 hours and I never noticed any ill effect. But I wouldn’t eat any wheat, apparently the most detrimental cereal.

I personally cannot handle any fruit or fruit juice combined with meat. It always makes my stomach very upset.

I find cooked rice to be "less worse" for me than grains - they do take much longer to digest than raw foods and, like with all cooked foods, seem to take ages to get digested and get stuck in my digestive tract.

Me too.
But I think that fruit juices should be avoided generally.

I love drinking freshly-squeezed fruit-juices, but only on their own. They give me lots of energy and I have no bad effects from them.

Fruit juice is generally bad news for me. Too acidic. Gives me issues with everything from cankers to sore throat etc.

It depends on the person. If you are not sure just wait 20 minutes or so. That way the stomach can start working on one first.

It is better to eat fruit first, as fruit digests faster and if you eat the meat first the fruit may tend to sit on top of the meat and cause gas. Not sure if this is as much an issue with juice as it is with fruit owing to the lack of pulp.

Let us know the result.

Very true.
It's consistent with "sequential eating"
