Well i've heard of the many benefits of standing v sitting and sleeping on the floor for your back. But what I newly heard is that even sitting for a short amount of time is bad for our health and backs - and that standing or even crouching is better than sitting. If you were to stand all day you'd need to exercise less and get a constant burn of calories from standing v exercising for periods of time. Sounds like a good idea to stand or crouch or lie on the floor daily rather than lie in a bed or sit.

Anyone willing to try this or have any opinions to add?

sit in deep squt . check the "Squat Motivational Thread"  you have alot of info there to start working on your squat position.

I can sit in deep squat now after few months of working on it But only for short time and with nike shoes where the heel is elevated a little bit.

True, chairs are horrible for one's back in the long-term, so squatting turkish-style might be an option.

However, HGs usually make a hollow for their head to lie in, so the head should, ideally, be lower than the rest of the body.

Sorry, I made a mistake. Sitting "turkish-style" means sitting on the floor but with crossed legs.

So-called "Turkish style" of cross-legged sitting:

It is also called "tailor style" and (American) Indian style:

Here's an image of squat sitting from the squat motivational thread:

I have begun squatting more.  Even when I used a chair at the computer, I could never get comfortable without squatting on the chair.  But the floor is much better, as I can switch to different positions.  I find that a position that is a modified Seiza is very comfortable, with my legs splayed or spread at right angles instead of tucked beneath me.

I have begun experimenting with yoga postures, I used to sit in siddhasana but I have lost flexibility over the years and need to gain it back.

I slept on the floor through most of my college years and after college for awhile, but caved into social pressures and got a bed some years ago, but I have decided to go back to sleeping on the floor (but on a mat like I did before, to approximate the softness of unfrozen ground).  I think this is healthier.  Also, less furniture means more living space (or less need for living space in general). These changes I am making in terms of raw plaeolithic diet, sleeping on the ground and relaxing (sitting without furniture) would make it possible to live comfortable in a much smaller living space than is required for most people in industrialized countries.

My S.O. has back and neck problems that I believe I can help her with by getting rid of furniture and practicing yoga.

omg I was having a wonderful night's sleep out in the shelter I made in the woods a few miles from my house. Really warm, just wearing what I was wearing in the day: soft cotton trousers, cotton shirt, wool jumper. I also had some thin cotton under-trousers over my head/face. Middle of the night I wake up, take the trousers off my head just cuz, put trousers back on my head and it's filled with the dried grass I have my shelter packed with AHH! It gets in my eyes and from that point I was fucked. I decided to run back home I even left all my stuff and backpack in my shelter in the middle of the woods.. Was really warm and comfortable though, until that happened.. It's just so painful I can see the grass in my eyes.. tried to get it out and it went to the back! I was whaling in my shelter >.> Because the shelter is packed the the stuff as I tried to move and get the grass out more was falling on me and getting in my eyes and mouth and nose lol.. Fucking horrible... I've even got a swelling on my eyelid now from rubbing it, looks horrible. Probably pulled out an eyelash >_<

I've always wanted to spend an entire day outside night to day. Full of vitamin d, free of those waves/radiation wave thingies that keep you up i've heard, and a dark area to promote sleeping and to wake you up when needy like the bugs(the sun). If only I could spend my life outside all day, really jealous of paleo life and indigenous tribes. I know in the wild I wouldn't be able to survive alone hence the need for groups and tribes together to survive like the ones in the Amazon or China or Africa.
