How can I do with meat when travelling
« on: February 21, 2011, 12:48:01 am »
Hello :)

I will go in Spain in few days for about 2 weeks.
I don't know how to do to have good meat everyday.

I plan to have an ice-box, and to take a stock with me before going,
but arrived in Spain, I will camp in a tent and wouldn't have any fridge.

So I probably will have to buy around there, or somebody have another idea ?
(I don't know how to make a box for driying the meat, neither to do pemmican, and don't have a deshydrator).

Are there som spanish (maybe near Tarragona -will be in a small village called Maella-) who can help me for finding good meat ?

Thanks

Oh, there are at least 2 members here from Spain, one from barcelona, judging from this thread:-

Perhaps you could PM them.

For some bizarre reason, the link to that thread in my post above, actually points to a completely different thread. I can't make it go to the right one, it seems. I guess you will have to use google to find that particular thread.

Learn how to dry meat at low temperature. It will last for months. Pemmican.

Eat lots of raw fruits and veggies while you travel. Raw eggs in a smoothie will give you the power if you can take a blender.

Eat lots of raw meat before you go & eat lots when you return. This can actually be beneficial to the body. It is what was natural paleo.
Naturally, Don

If you can't figure out something with a good source of meat or drying your meat, what I did when I went on a trip was to bring lots of raw nuts & dried fruit.

This. Just follow Lex's Rooker's exhaustive manuals on the subject.

:)  Thanks everybody.

Tyler, I already had found those links before you reply.

For sure for the new time I will learn how to dry my meat correctly maybe do some pemmican, now time is too short.
I prefer not to eat much dried fruits and nuts as my body (specially liver, teeth and skin) don't like them at all.
I really need meat and prefer fasting a little than eating too much fruits.

You should find Lex's pemmican and jerky-making manuals on rawpaleodiet.com.

I really need to do this because I love travelling and right now I feel like I am stuck in place with the limitations of eating RVAF.  I know that sushi is usually an option but it is so expensive and it is hard sometimes to find fresh wild fish.
