Raw Lamb Fat Cleanse?
« on: March 07, 2011, 09:27:18 pm »
I have read about various cleanses using fats such as coconut oil, which you consume for several days.  I was wondering if other fats might be suitable, especially animal fats like raw lamb fat or beef rat.  Any ideas pro or con?  I have never done a cleanse so I am curious.

Believe me, a lamb fat mono diet feels VERY uncomfortable.. hehe.

I am going to try it... but if I end up on the toilet most of the day it might interfere with my work.  Maybe I should wait for a long weekend (like Memorial Day)...

It isn't the cleanse I am interested in so much as how I might feel afterwards, if it actually succeeds in removing toxins that my body is still holding on to from eating junk for so many years.

I use lamb fat as my main fat source and also use coconut as my main carb source. Too much lamb fat does make for loose and oily stools. Overall I find that if I eat enough red meat with the lamb fat my digestion is great. I have had severe fungal issues and it seems that a high fat diet with coconut, lemon water, egg yolks, high meat seems to cleanse as well as nourish.

I have never tried to do just fat.

Extreme digestive trouble, weakness, dehydration etc... I stopped this experiment quickly after 2-3 days, of course.

That is the duration that I expect for it, 2-3 days.  How much fat did you consume?  Was it all raw, was any cooked?  Did you take anything else, such as supplements, water with lemon, etc??

I don't remember how much fat it was exactly. It was all raw, zero cooked. Beside fat and water, nothing else. No supplements, no lemon etc.

Today I can say it was a silly idea. I have learned that my gi tract always needs protein PLUS fat. The desired ratio can vary from person to person but mono eating super lean meat or nearly 100% fat is not useful.

If you want to do a "fat cleanse" (which might be as questionable as "fruit cleanses") I would do it with coconut milk or oil as described by GoodSamaritan. MCFAs can be handled more easily without protein.

Interesting, thank you.  You mention that MCFAs are more easily handled (than the long-chain fatty acids in animal fats).  Would butter then, with its many shorter-chain fatty acids such as butyric acid be more easily handled as well?  Or cream?

In my view, yes, butter is easier to digest than beef suet or lamb fat.

Nevertheless I avoid all dairy like the plague...

I am avoiding it until I can try raw milk.  Then I will decide whether to write dairy off completely.
