I know it takes about 5 hours if the sperm fertilises the egg. I mean do most women try for weeks/ months before they find they are pregnant or does it depend on the person?

It took me three months of frequent intercourse to impregnate my wife with our first.

My memory is shot. I meant it took 1 month to get pregnant with the first, and several months to get pregnant with the second. We weren't even trying to conceive the other two - they sort of slipped in quietly and weren't noticed until she was several weeks pregnant. :)

I am trying to post some scans from a book to answer this question but the files are 1.9 to 2.4 MB so they are too large. I have an iMac. Any suggestions on how to reduce their size?

goodsam, have you ever experimented with oysters before and during the time you were trying to get your wife pregnant? Maybe oysters right when you're trying increases the odds.

Yes.  We couldn't make our 2nd child.
I resorted to raw oysters 3x a week.
I measured my sperm count.
from 100million/ml to 300 million/ml after 1 month.

Wow. Reminds me of the story of the Grinch who stole Christmas, how at the end his heart grew three times the size. Only replace the grinch with a man, replace unconditional love and compassion with oysters, and replace heart with testicles. Congratulations.

Thanks, but I think the successful 2nd and 3rd pregnancy was because of the new health things we did.

- absolutely cleared all drugs and chemicals on my wife's body.
- had a hilot (traditional midwife) manipulate her uterus to the correct position.
- we cleaned up our diet to zero processed food and threw out the microwave
- my sperm count was 100 million / ml all years of my life and the increase to 300 million / ml was just a bonus.

Although now as a raw paleo dieter and knowledgable in making women pregnant I have the power... to make lots of babies...  ;D

Goodsam, I think you should add that one to your signature.  :D What do you think of Aajonus's timing advice for baby making? I hear he goes above and beyond the WAP advice (3-4 years) and recommends waiting every 7 years. Must take alot of patience for a husband to put up with that kind of rule.

What does he base that on?

Ayurveda suggests abstaining for as long as possible prior to trying as the sperm improves with age. Read the Kama Sutra for instructions.

It is also suggested having a max of two although in a polygamous situation... hmmm not sure. I think the two rule is more to do with mother's ability to perform the task of raising them.

Good suggestions.

Add;
eat medjool dates and asparagus for men and
pineapple for women.

PS GS
Not sure I would be too keen to use the prostate massager in your link. Probably works... but I have this idea that the anus is something designed to eject stuff ;D The one and only time I have had a prostate exam, I almost had a heart attack as the doc did it without warning me. I was having such a pleasant chat that I did not notice till too late....  ;D

In a large city, limiting the number of offspring places less of a strain on the social infrastructure (housing, schools, jobs, sanitation, potable water, etc.).

According to Aajonus, it's very healthy, lol  ;D

Well, raw-al, i think it might have to do with aajonus's belief that we need all the nutrients we can get. Also, when you look at the recommendations by most people of only 1-2 years, some even less, compared to WAP with his 3-4 year recommendation, it sort of shows that people tend to underestimate the load taken on a woman's body and the amount of time and nutrients necessary to recover from child bearing. Maybe there is some great logic and understanding behind aaj's 7 year idea based on his own decades of experience counseling women on the PD.

Ayurveda prescribes a period of time after the birth where a nurse is hired who massages the mother and child daily (in the Ayurvedic way) cleans the house, prepares food, and generally takes the load completely off mother, so mother can breastfeed and recuperate from the birth. Basically this goes on as long as the couple can afford.

It's too bad that is lost nowadays. It is no wonder women get frazzled trying to be and do everything right after birthing. That's a good source of anger/exhaustion that can lead to mental/physical issues and possibly even into divorce.

Actually, they have those here. Minus the massages, of course. I know a WAPF chapter leader who is a mother of five with one more now starting to cook. She has a helper/nanny. The only issue with the concept, is that it's not for the faint of wallet. In other words, they're rich, and other traditional/raw moms don't have that kind of money.

It'd be interesting if they had some sort of organization that paid the helpers and the helpers would help the individual families at no cost to the families themselves.
