MDee's Journal/Blog
« on: September 23, 2011, 02:22:23 am »
Well I'm one of those people who reads every nutritional forum out there, and reads them extensively. But I hardly ever sign up and rarely if ever post. But I've tried a ton of diets and healing protocals and think I should share my feedback. I've done raw paleo and primal eating...and still incorporate it, but 100% isn't best for me. I've started a blog that shares idea's and what I'm doing. This crowd will probably be more open to it than most. I'm no writer so this is far from easy for me. If your interested...

Yeah well thanks...but my blog just barely was deleted and I have no idea why...I don't think I did anything wrong...and if I had all they had to do was let me know so I could fix it.

Where do you get your protein??

hehe

The writing seems good. I think the 'what I eat' bothers me somewhat with 2.2 things listed. Sorta like the 'I eat Pemmican!" blogs. I can see reason for really restricted diets (particularly ruminant diets_ if they can provide much of the necessary nutrients while avoiding possibly problematic foods..but what is the reason here for eschewing muscle and organ meat when eating kidney fat? It says you did 100% raw paleo and primal diet. What were your experiences?

how do you ferment your egg-whites?

Yeah about the protein and my experience with raw paleo. I have really bad crohns/ibs so I struggle digesting everything. I used to eat lots of egg yolk, any raw meat or raw protein had to have plenty of fat but even then my digestion struggled a ton. I've looked at how little protein infants get when nursing and so I haven't been too worried having very little in my diet...I feel better. I get some raw protein in the fat and possible some from the sourdough bread. Surprisingly I have put muscle on eating this way. I'm a hard gainer for sure. Not tons of muscle but definitely some. I'm 6'1'' and have been down to 137 lb, now I'm currently at 155-60. I'm still learning

I'll blog how to make my egg whites either today or tomorrow.

How can one tell if the egg whites have fermented, and not simply dried?

thanks I'll try it out. I assume you find these digest better?

---

The requirements for protein may indeed be low, this is certainly a debated subject.

Its a good sign you are putting on weight and muscle. One thing is that you can find veg folks and even vegans who can build muscle on vegetable amino acids, this is true, but its surmised that animal protein (like animal fat) provide components necessary for all kinds of internal processes (and healing) etc.. that are not present even when getting these macro-nutrients adequately from plant foods

Perhaps some folks here have suggestions on how to better digest animal protein with your conditions. I agree sometimes you don't want to mess with what is working..but you want to consider long term needs as well. I would recommend at least a few days a week with more animal proteins. IMO someone like Nora Gedgaudas recommends what is likely the low end for protein consumption. Below even that seems risky long term.

interesting the sourdough works well for your IBS. How long have you been doing that combination?

Well because raw egg whites make me very sick, and the egg whites make me feel healthy. If I could have it tested nutritional that would be nice to prove it....but it cost $$$$ that I don't have, so I guess there is no proof.

For 3 years now...and I only stick with something if it really gives me results. Basically my main points of progress goes like this, raw vegan (sprouts too) and I was down to 137 if we really round up, very sick and I believe on my way out. I cut out fiber...helped a lot....found Jersey raw milk, which put 25lbs on me and I believe saved my life...but the weight didn't all stay. Then I figured out how to make sourdough bread and to eat it hot out of the oven. Its made a significant difference in my health and I think I will eat it for the rest of my life. Clay water and egg whites were things I discovered most recently...but I'm still experimenting and still learning!

Forgot to mention earlier...dried egg whites that you purchase in the store don't have the same effect.

i don't recommend egg whites...my dog will eat raw egg whites along with the yolk, but my cat will only eat the yolk.  I feel better when I only eat the yolk.

Exactly...I agree. Though yolks work better for me I still have some real problems with them

Only the bread has been consistent over 3 years,

I used to eat egg yolks everyday for  about 2 years.

I'm always trying new things, and experimenting cause I need to heal so I can go back to school...being sick really messed up my mind. I am planning to be in school (university) this January....its been about 3 years since I've attended.

I've taken the egg whites for about 6 months now...I only eat when I crave it so its not often right now.

I've experimented with the kidney fat for a couple of years...but didn't learn til recently that freezing it was making it way less effective or digestible.

Clay water I've drank for about 2 years as well...but I really mix it up right now, and use a certain band of clay that has been more effective than what i've done in the past. I've used that method for only a few weeks now...

Sorry its not a simple answer...but my constantly evolving diet changes all the time, but somethings have stayed consistent.

And it becomes more and more stable and consistent the more close it becomes to correct (for me anyway)

Interesting you found raw milk and believed saved your life. I only found it about two months ago and believe it helped me tremendously. Ill health has played havoc with my mind but when taking raw jersey milk over a number of weeks it really seemed to calm me down. Haven't had any in a couple of weeks and have gradually started to get anxious etc again. Getting a new batch on Monday and will experiment again. What benefits did you get?

Yes it is good stuff, and I mentioned the breed because jersey has some of the creamiest (highest fat content) milk of any breed. If not the highest its close. I believe the fat is critical...I eat raw kidney fat now because consuming raw cream everyday is really expensive...but that's what I want my kids to grow up on.

;)I'm still around and my health has continued to improve. My diet has changed in many ways since I last wrote here and since the foods are all very unique fermented foods, that I've figured out through trial and error, I keep what I eat up to date on my blog instead of trying to give a lengthy explanation and picture on here. The paleo part of my diet is all fermented animal foods so I don't know if I am true "paleo" but I'm just after what works. I have figured out how to completely avoid sugar of any kind and it significantly helps me. Anyway I'll try and update this more frequently. I guess my diet fits here more than anywhere else but it is pretty much all just very unconventional fermented food.

I just hope that maybe what I have learned will benefit someone else if possible.

Did I get this right?  You tried eating raw paleo, meaning raw meat included, and now you eat dried food, sourdough flakes, raw vegan, but not any raw meat?

yeah...sort of. I did 100% paleo raw meats and other paleo versions spin offs plus many other diets as well. I listed them on my blog or most of them. I did recover some with many diets, 100% raw dairy helped quite a bit but then I had problems. I just move on after a few months on a diet and try something to see if it helps more. I eat the way I do (fermented dried foods) because it helps me the most of any diet I have done (short term and beyond) So I'm not sure if I completely answered your question. I would think that raw fermented dried eggs would be "paleo", but maybe not ???

I eat exactly what I have written down in "what I eat.." section of the blog. I update it frequently and accurately.

I eat raw fermented dried egg whites and egg yolks...but not any meat.

I had the same thought....but when I ate nutritional yeast from the health food store it made me sick rather than helping me. I'm not an expert by any means...I just have ideas and experiment a lot. What works I stick with and pursue that line of thought. They do help me a great deal in improving my health, that is the main thing I know.
