sauerkraut

Aajonus said in an interview I watched that sauerkraut and other fermented vegetables will always cause damage to a raw food eater. What is his logic in this?

He is probably referring to the added salt typical of these foods. Whether or not he is right about mined salt (non-food bound) I do not know yet. It seems a reasonable theory, but it may be bollocks. More evidence is needed. His case is that salt is purified in the body, and when it is, it becomes highly explosive (pure sodium is very explosive apparently), and eventually explodes in your system, causing cellular damage. Would like to see some evidence for or against.

This is opposed to plant and animal salts, animals getting theirs from plants typically, and plants getting theirs from the soil. Obviously herbivores and some other animals love salt/mineral licks when offered. But the only time they would see something like that in the wild is natural salt flats and ocean water, among a very few others. By and large most wild animals get their salt from diet.

I heard him say you can eat them for a time (without salt of course) until they finish detoxing you of the cooked veggies you have eaten in your life.

Cooked veggies do lots of damage, terrible damage in susceptible individuals, lots of residues from not only the fiber but other unusable stuff.

The only immediate disadvantage I notice when I eat sauerkraut is that, afterwards, I find that my stools are abnormally large after eating all that extra fibre.

By and large most wild animals get their salt from diet.

Most wild animals looooove salt licks.  It's actually illegal for deer hunters in many places to use a salt lick to lure deer.  It's like shooting fish in a barrel.

Lots of wild animals are attracted to salt licks.  Here's the wiki on the subject

I am really interested to get to the bottom of AV's claims about salt being explosive in your body.   I do know that pure sodium IS explosive, but I just don't know if your body actually breaks it down like that, into its pure form?  Why wouldn't the same thing happen with sodium in plants/animals/fruits that we eat?  I'd need to see evidence or have someone explain why it happens like that.
I mean, it does sort of make sense to me, but I dunno...just because of AV's record for making wild claims but not really having evidence to back them up.
I do eat a lot of fermented veggies, so I would be interested to hear what others think about this!  I find that they are much easier to digest instead of raw.  And it seems that most traditional cultures preserved some foods by fermentation (well, I guess we don't know if people wayyyy back in the paleo era did).   Confusing!!!!!!!!  XP
