Just read a bunch of good samaratins liver/gallbladder articles and decided that i should do the cleanse. Now my question is where can I get a below 96 degree olive? Should I start a new thread for this?

How bad is your pain a scale of 1 to 10? What kind is it: is it dull aching, sharp stabbing etc.?

You might want to try milk thistle to see if it gives you immediate relief. It's the king of herbs to support and help cleanse the liver. It's not as intense or dramatic as GS's liver cleanses - but sometimes slow and gentle can be nice if it works.

I also find that peppermint alone can relieve liver symptoms because it cleanses the bile and takes strain off the liver.

Both these herbs should be read about in detail first (like anything) and use just a little tea at first to see how they make you feel. They are very gentle and for most people they have no negative side affects - but always be careful anyway.

The liver detoxes also have dangers - like anything.

If the pain isn't bad you might also just cut down on your fat for a bit and give your liver a bit of a rest. Eat less or fast too if you feel it's good for you as that in itself will give the liver and the digestive system a rest.

Nice to have options.

Its a dull 2-4. I will think about the milk thistle but if its just a gentler version of the apple juice then i think I will just do the more intense thing as I like to really get in my problems face and obliterate it. I also have an intuitive feeling of the apple juice and grapefruit juice really hitting the part where I have pain and clearing the path. His suggestion just intuitively seems right to me. If the milk thistle is better in any way then let me know however.

Now all i need is to do the impossible and find some raw olive oil in new york city

That oil made my mouth water. Looks nice.

Intuition trumps everything! Forget what I said and do what made you see cleansing and the pain leaving. That's 90% of it. Your mind has great power.

Good luck - and make sure to tell us how you make out.

I suffered from liver congestion and stomach pains prior to finding this diet. I did liver flushes that were successful in flushing out stones, but as long as I was still eating the wrong foods I would get congested again after a couple of weeks.

Is there anything that you are still eating that could be causing the issue?

Nope I have been 100 percent raw for the past three months. Thats part of the reason this thing coming up confused me so much. I have only started dairy for the past month but i dont think thats the problem so nobody ever really reports having pains in this region from dairy. I dont get any nausea or anything so it seems fine to me.

Anyway, im doing the apple juice flush from good samaritans website starting tomorrow. Hopefully it goes well.

Not true. Pre-rawpalaeodiet, I got extremely painful stomach-aches after eating any cooked animal food or raw dairy.

... I have only started dairy for the past month but i dont think thats the problem so nobody ever really reports having pains in this region from dairy. ..

The son I speak of has started to get pain from kefir especially, raw or course, grassfed etc, and even from plain raw grassfed milk if drinking more than a couple ounces of that, and from really raw (grassfed) cheese (salted) and even really carefully made never been out of the range of 102 degree yogurt (grassfed).  He's back on stomach medicine.  The raw butter doesn't seem to pose any problem, but raw cream (grassfed) with berries (organic) does:-\? make him need more stomach meds.

I will think about the milk thistle but if its just a gentler version of the apple juice then i think I will just do the more intense thing as I like to really get in my problems face and obliterate it.     For stomach pains I've had, perhaps thistle would have worked better.  Drinking those two juices, either or, both have made me very acidic.

Ah -- Troll -- new food -- new pain.
Perhaps before doing flushes try removing new food?
Liver is the organ that complains about things that it has to process that the body can't.
Everyone is different. Even if no one else ever had liver pain from dairy - doesn't mean you won't.
If I were in your shoes I would do an experiment of omission before an experiment of cleansing with more new foods... but that's pretty much my attitude in general. See if you can get rid of the thing making the problem rather than treat the problem.

Well the pain only started a month after I was already doing the raw dairy. Wouldnt it have affected me earlier if it was the cause?

Anyway, I have already started the flush I will complete that before moving onto anything else. I will consider going off the dairy for a bit if the flush doesnt help.

Not necessarily. I mean the stomach-aches I developed from consuming any cooked animal foods didn't start appearing until my mid-teens, and then were minor in nature. Then they steadily got worse until I had them all the time in my mid-20s whenever I ate any cooked animal foods.

All you can do is experiment with or without dairy to see if either improves things.

I also just thought that the problem might not be with my usual absorption of dairy which has always went smoothly but simply the fact that it contains a lot of fat that would be hard to digest with a clogged gallbladder which doesnt produce enough bile. At least thats how it is with normal people, i dont know if it still applies to raw food but i think it does.

It's a baby space alien. Have you seen the TV series "V" or the movie "Alien"? Space alien seed can be implanted in male hosts as well as female. Don't say you weren't warned. Don't worry, though, gallbladder cleanses are known to kill space alien babies. ;)

Ok I reread my first response and though it still gives me a chuckle it sounds harsher than a meant it. I think your problem is in your lungs and is due to smoking the reefer. Lungs fit the bill for location and when I was in regular moderate to heavy use while slanging I had something similar.

Now that you're raw, you're body is probably trying hard to pull all of that shit out of your lungs but it doesn't want to go easy!

I hope you get on top of it. Maybe try cutting out puffing for a while and see if that helps!

Started already. Cool. How are you feeling?
I'll repeat - intuition does trump everything and if you have a strong intuition to do apples - then apple away!
I sure wish you the best.
Besides, I think if you have a baby alien in you, you might need the milk to feed her, and I'm not sure, but I think most aliens like apples (especially apple sauce), so I don't think you will be hurting your baby.  ;)
Where ya been Phil. I sure have missed you.  :-*

I feel pretty jittery from the massive amount of apple juice sugar ive been consuming all day. Just one cup of that juice is more sugar than i get in several days usually. And all that with no fat is a bit much for me. I do think the juice is good for the gallbladder though. I can sometimes feel the juice passing through. I cant wait to stop drinking the juice tomorrow though. Way too much sugar for me.

I have changed my views on liver cleansing since going raw paleo.

Liver congestion is such a common issue and can go unnoticed for a long time before it gets so bad that there is actual physical pain and discomfort.

It seems very feasible that it took your liver about a month before the effects of dairy intolerance caused a clog.

Even if this is a case of liver congestion I don't believe that liver cleanses are always necessary. The liver is a self cleansing organ, as long as the foods that are responsible for causing the congestion to begin with are removed from the diet, the issue should resolve on its own.

I have implemented a more mild daily cleansing routine that involves drinking couple of glasses of lemon water with raw egg yolks, along with a little coconut.

This may work much better than apple juice for people who want to limit their sugar intake.

Hi Dorothy,
I've been following the usual pattern of most forum posters--lots of posts early on and then gradually fewer and fewer as they learn most of the info the forum has to offer, figure out their issues and develop the best therapeutic approach they can. No surprise here. My plan is to eventually rarely post (though still occasionally) but still lightly monitor the forum, like Lex. I also intend to minimize PC and screen time of all kinds and spend more time outdoors. I spend a lot of time on a PC at work, so the less personal time beyond the minimum necessary, the better.

Plus, now that Lex and other past interesting substantive posters are not as active here, there's less to interest me and there seems to be more posts along the lines of strongly held beliefs based on little more than opinion and gurus that I find less interesting. I still read threads of yours that I find interesting, but I ignore most threads at this point.

There's even less to interest me at GITMR, so I rarely even bother to peruse that forum any more.

I feel pretty jittery from the massive amount of apple juice sugar ive been consuming all day. Just one cup of that juice is more sugar than i get in several days usually. Are you sure this harm you're experiencing from the juice is worth it to derive a theoretical unseen benefit?

I cant be sure of anything. However, by the time i started feeling really sugary id already finished the first day of juicing so it doesnt make sense for me to stop with only a half day left. Also the malic acid is pretty undebated in its gallstone softening properties. While all that sugar hasnt been too fun for me, I can literally feel the malic acid in the juice passing through liver/gallbladder area and clearing some stuff, after I drink the juice I can also hear a gurgling noise in the area as though something is being cleared. Anyway, at this point I have a good deal of faith that this flushing regimen will make me feel better. My gallbladder/liver already feels better than it has in about a week. But who knows, I will let you guys know tomorrow how it went when all is done.

Well Phil. I'm very happy for you - more time outdoors - having it figured out and doing it. Bravo. Sad for me though. I've missed you.

I want to throw out something for people with gall bladder issues in general that someone might find helpful. My Mom when she had pancreatic cancer had to have multiple scans of that area so I was able to watch carefully what worked and what didn't. She had a gall bladder filled with stones and sludge. I put her on peppermint tea and within a couple of months on her next scan her gall bladder was cleared up. Peppermint dissolves the cholesterol build up in the bile. I saw it with my own two eyes - no surgery necessary. It's as gentle as you can imagine, a good digestive, cheap and tasty with no sugar. It's a cooling herb - so look it up and muscle test yourself before starting - but it's a very nice alternative. You can also chew on peppermint leaves or make some yummy peppermint dishes. I love peppermint with dairy - so in a way you could take your medicine with your "poison". lol.

I ended up getting rid of a lot of alleged gallstones and felt great for a while. I ate then a bit later now my stomache hurts more than it has in a long time. On the other hand my leg feels great right now and it may be to early to tell bt it feels unexpectedly healed. Is this just a detox and a good thing or did something just move to an even worse place?
