Longevity: Think 200 to 250 years old
« on: January 16, 2012, 10:46:58 am »
Awesome idol of a guy.

And I thought 120 years old was to be an achievement.

Now with this guy Li Ching Yuen is said to have lived either 197 or 256 years old.

We raw paleo dieters should be able to crack this code.

(oh yeah, now that I've found health in raw paleo diet, my next health goal is longevity, like this guy.)

Why stop there.  Methuselah lived even longer - 969 years.

This Li guy has teachings... died less than 100 years ago.  So he's very current, even has a picture.
Plus, we roughly follow the same calendar... Chinese Lunar vs Our current calendar... not much difference.
My teacher barefoot herbalist mh, teaches something about that breathing technique, that's one piece of the puzzle.
My master acupuncturist friend knows the herbs and teaches the martial arts.

One piece at a time.

Remember, people claim all sort of things.  And this guy is no different.

What do you mean by "Our current calendar"?  If you are talking about Gregorian calendar that is currently in use then it is very different from Chinese Lunar.  Gregorian calendar is Solar.

Hi Goodsamaritan, nice to meet you.
Ancient esoteric, spiritual and cultual texts are steeped in longevity mysteries, many shrouded in metaphor and paradox.
For what its worth, the beautiful mystery of 'now' reveals itself to the watchfully aware, and then fears of the body dying or life coming to an end, cease to have a hold anymore.

Fortunately, this Master Li left some teachings. His number one advice was Tranquil Mind. Many ageless sages use various practices to transcend time and aging. I would look to this type of method first, before I would look for the ideal diet or herb. Many magic bullet approaches lead to one idealized food and overlook the value in the rest of the practice.

The Chinese calendar is a hybrid - not exclusively lunar. For example, the new year is determined with reference to the winter solstice.

I think a normal human lifespan, on an ideal wild raw diet, barring early death from violence or infection, is probably around 120-140, with the absolute upper limit around 180 or 200.

On the other hand,  with the use of certain meditation or even alchemical techniques, I think the practical limit is much, much higher.  Granted, there's a lot of BS surrounding all this, but I've seen some things that have opened my mind, so I definitely at least think some of this is possible.

With advanced science, including stem cell research, I don't think there is any real limit to human lifespan. In fact, I'll go even farther and say we'll beat the aging process altogether within 30 years.  This is assuming, of course, no major natural disasters, accidents, or terrorist attacks that would kill a large portion of humanity.

Lunar to solar year conversion is easy. 200 gregorian calendar years for this guy who died in 1933 is pretty easy to believe.  The Chinese civilization and their techniques are not mysterious to me.

I just realized.

We raw paleo diet and lifestyle practitioners are the 21st century "hermits" and with global communications, a few of us will surely be able to do this longevity thing too.

I believe in cumulative knowledge and each generation trying to be better than the previous one.
