Hi Van,

Interesting idea. Do you think it might work if I eat cooked chicken all alone, or any other protein? It may be a good idea. I tend to have big gaps between my meals, and eat big meals. Over eating is really a sign of bacterial over growth in the GI tract, I think.

Wondering if eating meat all alone will hurt my colon. I used to get pains in my colon if I didn't eat 75%+ carbs with my protein. If it doesn't, it might be a great idea for me to eat small protein meals for a while and really let the bad bacteria starve.

The good thing about these kind of problems is that the human body is quite forgiving and you can turn it around in literally a few hours. The main thing is to listen to your body and change when the need arises.

I've got raw wild salmon in an air tight container on top of my fridge, with mustard, sea salt, water, cayenne, and raw onion. It's been at room temp for 24 hours now. I may eat it on Sunday. I've made this before, years ago, and it was really good. I put lemon juice in it before, but none this time. Off hand would you say it's safe to eat? I bet it would be real easy to digest.

IF you need to control your grain cravings, eating high-fat will help.  Fat controls craving of all kinds.

I seem to do quite good with fats. I recently consulted with a nutritionist in MT [metabolic typing]. It cost me $250 and I kind of feel like I was sucked into that deal in a way. I mean, I learned some things from him that could do me a lot of good but $250 seems kind of like a hard pill to swallow. He makes a lot of sense on many things but I wouldn't say he's the last word on some things, no one is, or, only we are of our own bodies.

Anyway, I'm a mixed type and MT recommends I eat 35% protein, 45% carbs, and 20% fats, for what that's worth. :) It also recommends that people fine tune their personal diets to get the perfect ratio of macro nutrients.

Was never much into taking probiotics, but lately I'm making a lot of my own fermented vegetables and kefir. For a light supper I had 2 lightly cooked eggs and some fermented turnips & beets. It's really good and tangy.
I've cut back on carbs in a major way. It may cause me to lose some weight but overall I should be ale to put on some muscle, so it should be worth it. I'm also eating a higher % of protein, and that to might help me build muscle.

Why did you leave the fish at room temp 24 hr? I usually let it sit out 30 min to take the chill off. It's probably OK as long as it is cool in your house. Does it still smell mild? Did you take it out of your freezer? That makes more sense. I eat it frozen fish in a pinch. A 4oz piece defrosts quick in cool water. I hope you enjoy it and if you like lemon or salt with it that's fine.

The salmon smells like onions and mustard. The sea salt and onion seem to preserve it. Yes, it had been frozen for weeks before I thawed it out.

High protein diet is baaaaadddd... for your kidneys.
Even if it is raw protein.

If you do quite good with fats, why are you eating a very low fat diet?

No, I eat tons of coconut oil, butter, skin on poultry, full fat dairy, etc.

Oh, I see, so you're not following those MT recommendations, right? What foods are you planning to eat going forward and roughly what macronutrient ratios, out of curiosity and to try to clarify this, as some are concerned you may be eating too much protein?

35% protein is a bit high . I'd recommend no more than 30%.  Ideal range is 20-30%.
Some recommend an even lower number for the low end of the range than 20% and some higher than 30%. For example:

Diet                     Protein    Carbohydrate   Fat
Stephen D. Phinney   15            0-3         82-85 [and probably also Jay Wortman, MD]
Stefansson         15-20         0?            80-85
Atkins-type diets      18-23         4-26      51-78
Paul Jaminet         15             20-30           55-65
HG diets per Cordain   19-35         22-40      28-47 (58 if include the Arctic)

I'm not arguing that they're necessarily right, just sharing that there are other views, though 15% is not far off from 20% and 35% not far from 30%.

Death was starting to look rather attractive to me as well before I tried a more super-strict version of cooked Paleo and experienced a miraculous rejuvenation of health I had nearly given up hope of ever achieving, but I figured it was at least worth a shot. Then I tried the even more savage raw Paleo and found that the greater the savagery, the more splendiferous the benefits.

I, like many others, have completely fallen in love with this passage. Death was a very attractive escape route from pain/hell for me as well when I was covered in full body eczema rashes - couldn't walk or stand up without tearing open my knee rashes, couldn't sleep or stay still without pain or itch, couldn't open the window with my deeply cracked fingertips....etc.

This forum and GoodSamaritan (who first exposed me to RPD with his eczema website) saved my life and gave me everything I could have dreamed of - happiness, health, freedom, a bright future.

Cannot agree more strongly. It's so sad that people aren't open-minded enough to at least give this "crazy" diet a shot because of so many reasons ingrained in their minds from the Western medical community. They think that sickness and discomfort is normal and taking pills are the cure.

I do understand that the level of addiction to junk food some people have makes it SO hard to even attempt to restrict some foods, e.g. sugar, MSG addicts.

Anyways, after half a year on Raw Paleo, I have become so compassionate towards other people and it is really not their fault that they are not willing to try and eat healthy even after witnessing miraculous recovery in people around them.
