Smell of meat
« on: March 14, 2012, 11:14:03 pm »
I have to say that even though I have been eating raw meat for a couple of years, the smell of it in the fridge or out of the fridge is not pleasant..

We put it in the fridge in a jar but I have been experimenting with hanging it in the fridge and now with hanging it outside the fridge.

Is there any way to get rid of the smell?
Cheers
Al

That's strange. It doesn't bother me at all. I'm so used to the smell of raw meats that I have to be ultra-careful to clean the fridge very often since I recognise that most non-rawists are seriously turned off by the faintest smell of raw meat.

My wife is the main one for noticing smells. My olfaction recepters are on the endangered list.

Is your meat prefrozen? I'm  eating a little thawed meat lately and it doesn't smell nice like fresh does.

My hanging meat gives off a slight odor that bothers fussy noses, but not as strong as high meat in a jar. It's not enough of an odor to make one gag, but it does say aging meat. My fridge also says garlic and fermented vegetables.

Neither do I.

(though eating raw meat for ca. 11 years)

I only eat very fresh raw animal products... no smell at all.

I find the smell of even high meat to be pleasant.
