documentary Sicko by Michael Moore
« on: July 01, 2012, 09:10:27 pm »
Great film.

It covers health care in the united states. As well as health care in nations like cuba, britain, canada and france where everyone gets free health care.

If you wanna watch the injustice to Americans, and how awesome other nations have it. Check it out on youtube.

Michael Moore is a deeply dishonest Libtard. He tried to make it seem that the NHS in the UK was somehow far better than healthcare in the US. This I know to be a load of rubbish, having had experience of the British NHS for many years, and having listened to many other similiar accounts from fellow UKers.

In what ways is British NHS worse than American health insurance?

In theory the British NHS is free -  in practice, outside of car accidents and the like, there are endless queues for any other condition with most people being blocked from any expensive treatment that might actually cure them. Plus we get lots of foreign doctors who are hopelessly incompetent etc. etc.

So it's free?

But there's a long wait for life saving procedures, outside of emergencies?

I've heard all over the place that people can be put on hold for procedures.

What kind of procedures could be postponed?

I need to rant about this.

There is so much that Michael Moore and many supporters of socialized medicine in the united states fail to see. Once everyone is on the insurance grid, then the quality of care is going to go down and cost will go through the roof(bankrupting an already defunct country). The working class who now enjoy somewhat decent quality treatment will be downgraded into having to see foreign doctors in the health department clinics. The true causes and cures for the diseases of civilization will continue to be suppressed by the medical establishment and overall the quality of lives for the average person will not be improved.

Both the private sector insurance system and the government insurance model, pay money to the same corrupt medical establishment. Its a racket either way it goes .Wake up people!! Its crony capitalism that is at the heart of "Obamny Care" not a true utilitarian socialism.

Huge sums of tax payer money will be squandered or diverted into the confers of the medical mafias many operations. No matter if they pass socialized health care or some kind of compromise.  The agenda has already been set by the powers that be{ the fix is in}. Our controlled media is spewing out propaganda left and right regarding the healthcare act and are only contending against some of the more trivial aspects of the Bill, while the true benefactors will never be relieved. This could be the largest zeitgeist of our generation (next to 911, another subject Michael Moore knows little about). The socialization of the medical establishment in America is much bigger consolidation of wealth and power than the bailout operation by far.

The only solution to free humanity from this impending medical slavery is to create an independent branch of government which could oversee government healthcare. Even if such an orginzation could be established it will be nearly imposible to keep it from being currupted.

Imagine if we had a truly free and independent FDA, elected directly by the people, that investigated sickness from an environmental perspective. Or a medical system in which they recognized the true causes of disease. This would put an end to the gravy train of deasease farming which has taken over the bulk of today's modern medical establishment.

If Michael Moore was so honest about getting the truth out, then why the fuck isn't he getting this message out. He is a tool of the more liberal wing, and not some independat rouge journalist, like he portrays himself to be.

I no longer care.  I opted out of my employer's health insurance, it's expensive and worthless.

I take care of my health with nutrition, exercise, posture work, pressure points, etc.. I also take care of my family with these.  I don't give a damn about the rest of the country.  Nobody listens to my health advice, so they can find their own damn way.  I am not responsible for the people I can't control, and that includes pretty much everybody.

Sabertooth.

Your 'rant' is my opinion also.

I live in Canada and there are no mile long cues at the Doctor's office. Our system costs less to operate, because you don't have the private insurance companies skimming off the top. I used to go training annually and there was frequently pilots there from the HMOs getting trained on nice private jets because there is such a load of money in that business. Check out the movie "The Bucket List".

The Canadian medical system is no different than the US one. Both suck the big one and are basically useless. Both countries as well as most of the world are under the spell of the most powerful unions on earth, combined with the largest drug/money making operations on earth, Drug companies make normal returns (ROI) that are the envy of the rest of the business world, in the order of 35% per annum.

The medical union regularly suppresses cures for a wide variety of cures because they cannot be patented, so there is no money in researching and proving there efficacy. Also there is no money in healthy people so they are at odds with their customers, the patients.

There are many cures out there for cancer, but the drug companies/oncologists would have you addicted to incredibly expensive chemo which has a pathetic 5 year survivability rate of 2.1%.

It is a real crime that the Doctors union (AMA/FDA) and the drug cartel (FDA) and the advertising/marketing department (web sites like quackwatch) are allowed to get away with murder.
Cheers

I have watched a few of his movies, Bowling For Columbine, fahrenheit 911, and Sicko.

There is truth in what he says and also a certain amount of liberal style dishonestly. He is so good at his craft that he makes a great story.

However the right in the US has expended a great amount of energy attacking Michael because he exposes their weakness for money and corruption in an elegant and hilarious fashion..

I agree with Sabertooth about the whole system being rotten to the core, but from the strict point of view of the average citizen who has swallowed the allopathic Kool-Aid whole, MM is correct. The Canadian system is free if you want drugs and slice and dice and I do not agree with that because there is no incentive to take care of yourself.

I know of only one person who goes to the US for healthcare and he happens to have a company which has a large branch in the US and he gets his insurance through them and he uses his company aircraft to fly him to a US clinic. He just believes he is getting better care. I know of a number of ways to have prevented his illness, but he has bought the Allopathic Kool-Aid. He's probably worth 100 mil.

I travel to the US periodically and it is hilarious listening to the people there who truly have swallowed the Kool-Aid that they have a superior medical system and that there are line-ups for months to see a Doctor in Canada. That is BS.

My 90 year old mother had eye surgery. No line-up. I went for my pilot medical and got a prescription for a blood test, ECG. Total waiting time at the drop-in clinics was maybe ten minutes. Cost - zero. Return trip for the results - zero. No arguing with HMOs or discussing with the 'Department of Exclusions.'

He is good at documentry making but a big girl.

That's if he really believe's what he saying and not coking it up with pro's like the rest of the faux liberals.

DaBoss88,

Moore's Cuba experience was staged by the government.  If you want collectivism that actually works and isn't coercive as government ALWAYS is, start your own co-op.  Perfectly legal and many work wonderfully.  Mondragon Corp. centered in the Basque country in Spain is rocking and rolling.  It is the wave of the future, the ideal "business" establishment.  85% of the "workforce" own the company.  It really is a dragon, but the competition is doing the moaning.     :)

I've opted out of health care too Cherimoya - but if the Obama care gets going I will be FORCED to buy expensive insurance that I will never use.

Sabertooth's rant is my rant too. It's all a big money-making scheme. There are few things that can't be prevented and treated by our diets here alone.

Short of a car wreck or similar I wouldn't go to a hospital or standard doctor even if they paid ME!

Hey we're all mavens. Keep spreading the word on alternative medicine. Eventually we can put the scam artists out of bijiness.
