Raw Eggs made me throw up?
« on: January 11, 2013, 01:20:49 am »
So I just started raw a few days ago. Ive been having raw eggs every morning, they make me feel so good. Well, made? This morning I had my raw eggs, I stopped at 2 instead of 3 this time, just because I thought it would be smart for some reason. I started getting increasingly more and more nauseas soon after. I had to lie down, I was lying there and it eased it a little. Then I felt like I was going to throw up, this surprised me. (I never throw up). I went to the washroom, threw up over and over. Now I feel good. My boyfriend had the same eggs, hes fine. Theyre organic and free range. What do I do now? Do I have to fear raw eggs now?

If you fill too much gas in your car's tank, it will overflow.  ;)

When I ate nothing but raw eggs for weeks/months on end, I got a gag reflex eating them after a while. I take that as my body getting sick of eggs, and wanting something else.

Its been literally just days of having eggs just in the morning and other raw meats for my second meal. I also have vegetables and minimal fruit.

It's peculiar. I have no real explanation.

Possibly some kind of detoxification symptom? Before I started this, I was eating so much candy everyday, all day. Chocolate bars especially. Desserts. Lots of unhealthy starches. The cravings Ive been getting have been completely outrageous. Id sit up in bed imagining every detail of a a cake, then a cheeseburger, and then Id find myself planning the quickest way to obtain these things. But I never gave in.

Sounds normal. There's a lot of changes going on in your body.

You're replacing cooked nutrients with raw nutrients. The microbes in your digestive tract are changing. Those cravings are normal. If they become to much for you, usually a cooked piece of meat with no additives will help. I recommend just getting through it though, and not going for cooked food.

Yes, but you said you ate 3 eggs every morning during several days before. You filled your body needs for eggs in a few days, probably having eaten enough eggs for a while.

There might be other explanations, but this one is the first to consider. You seem to have somehow unconsciously felt that you had eaten enough of them because you stopped after 2, and then tried to rationalize a feeling that you didn't want to consciously accept.

For God's shake, eat some sweet, delicious fruits then. Otherwise you'll sooner or later fallback into cooked food again.

I ate one piece of candied salmon, fresh and local, that completely satisfied me. I realized that it was too much stress on my body to not give in to anything. The fruit just wasnt cutting it.

raw egg white would make me throw up for sure.  you might have just irritated your gallbladder after all those eggs.  although not in a bad way, in a cleansing way, egg yolks are super good for the gallbladder, but too much could force it into hyperactivity, gallbladder issues make me sneeze and then feel like vomiting! also they have a lot of sulphur compounds that are easy to overload.  in my instinctive mind i always go for grapefruit when things are too heavy and i want sweet, and can only eat less then a forth but it does the trick

okay, thank you! fruit doesnt do it for me haha. I have always had such a sweet tooth, and never much cared for salty savoury things when I was craving. So, it was a shock to me that my strongest cravings are for the meaty salty things. I can just wait out my sugar cravings easily. I cant deny the savoury yet.

I eat raw eggs nearly every day without any gag reflex unless I leave broken eggs sitting around for too long and they get warm and slightly off-tasting. When I do get a gag reflex it doesn't trouble me in the slightest. If I continue to get it from strong-tasting eggs, I sometimes cook them lightly to get rid of the strong taste, rather than throw them out. YMMV

It wasnt my gag reflex, I had to induce vomiting because the nausea got outrageous. It was VERY easy to do, so Im assuming I would have thrown up anyways soon after.

I've never experienced it [to that extent] from eggs, but I did after consuming other foods: expeller-pressed coconut oil, raw coconut, and some fermented cod liver oil that tasted like it had gone bad (though there was another potential culprit food at the time). I still eat these foods (except for eating centrifuged coconut oil, which is less heated and less prone to cause nausea, instead of expeller-pressed). The way I thought about the fish oil was along the lines of "Cool! It looks like I may have consumed some seriously tainted fish oil and survived with just a bad bought of vomiting, and feel good again soon after. I wonder how much bad bacteria was in it and how much I can tolerate these days?" Regarding those and other coconut foods, I kept at it and found types and amounts I could tolerate and have gradually increased my tolerance for coconut fat.

Sometimes I do get tired of eggs and don't eat them until I feel like it again. One time I forced myself to eat some anyway, as I was in a bit of a rush, and not only got a gag reflex, but a bit of nausea and partial-upchuck, but it soon passed and I avoided eggs for a day or two, I think, with no probs when I started eating them again.

It sounds to me like you can't tolerate heated and/or rancid fats. Fish oil is (I think) always heated. In fact, from my understanding. It used to be a waste product of making canned tuna that someone decided they'd capitalize on and make a supplement. I believe the same is true for whey from yogurt making.

It was Green Pastures Blue Ice raw fermented cod liver oil (which is centrifuged, to minimize heat, though there's likely still a small amount of heat involved, if you're a super-purist), and I've never had a problem with it since. You can read about it here: http://www.westonaprice.org/cod-liver-oil/update-on-cod-liver-oil-manufacture

I've been consuming raw CLO long enough now that I like the unflavored raw CLO/raw butter oil combination, which would have tasted really bad to me years ago.

I've even seen a whey powder advertised as raw, though I didn't investigate it thoroughly, as I wasn't much interested in buying it.

As for alleged potential harm from "rancid" fish oils, check out this:
Quote
Some Things Fishy: Oxidized Fish Oil Totally Benign!? Plus: The Inflammatory Side of EPA and Peroxide & Alkenal Levels in Commercial Fish and Vegetable Oils.
by German physicist Adel Moussa
http://suppversity.blogspot.com/2011/12/some-things-fishy-oxidized-fish-oil.html
"The ingestion of 8g of oxidized [aka "rancid"] (peroxide value: 18mEq/kg; ansidine value: 9) fish oil (1.6g EPA+DHA) did not have any unfavorable short term-effects in previously healthy individuals."
And that's likely a heated fish oil they're talking about.  :o

I've only noticed improvements in raw foods that are fermented (not nearly as much with heated fermented foods). The combination of raw and fermented seems to be almost magical. Many of the world's reputedly healthiest foods are raw fermented (and often people aren't even aware that they are raw fermented).

I started out with raw eggs too, and the exact same thing happened to me as well after some time. I didn't throw up, but felt a bit sick. I just backed off on the eggs, my instincts just told me I was sorta done with them now. This was after like 3 eggs, every morning for months. From time to time I'll eat lightly cooked eggs now (and still give them to my ferrets on occasion, who love the shit out of them).

You'd better separate the white and the yolk anyway, to check every time if you need the yolk, the white or both. One may eat for example 6 yolks and 2 whites — or no whites at all.

I guess my instincts told me that I still need eggs because I've since had no problems with them and I feel great when eating plenty.

My guess is after many mornings of raw eggs, you finally were able to flush your liver and your liver may have dumped some old poisons in your stomach.  This is why you felt really bad and threw up.

I do not know your health history enough.

But I have an egg yolk liver flush protocol so you might understand what I think may have happened.

http://www.curemanual.com/detox-protocols-and-treatments/liver-gall-bladder-flush/edwins-egg-yolk-liver-flushing/

IF liver flushing was the case, I suggest you eat an apple or a few apples a day to continue with your liver cleansing.
