big deal. they stop eating bread and biological weapons so they cured a bunch of things. This is still child abuse. These kids need animal foods. Not as bad child abuse as feeding your kids tons of bread and biological weapons though.

There's no way the father in that family is 100% raw vegan.  He's far too bulky.

Raw veganism, especially with enough fat, can be a wonderful thing for a few months.  However, eventually the body becomes starved for B-12 and animal fats.

I doubt hes been doing it too long.

that being said, theres some individuals in this world that will be healthy no matter what the do.

I have a friend who almost never eats meat, eats all convential gm pesticide food and has done tons of every drug in his life as well as drinking. Hes about 40 now and appears to be as healthy and energetic as someone in their 20s. Thats not to say there isnt a slowly building problem in his body that will be come apparent later.

maybe some people just have good genes and will do well no matter what.

Gene's aren't all  that they have been cracked up to be. Cromosomes and environmental influences are a bigger part of the picture. You have to wonder how they were raised and even how their parents were raised and how their parents parents were raised.

From that article: "restaurants are popping up to tap into a growing desire for a raw vegan diet – a philosophy similar to that behind the meals in Paltrow’s book."

Similar? What a blatantly misleading article. Paltrow quit raw veganism (and before that a cooked macrobiotic diet) after she became very sickly on it and developed chronic stress, anemia, the worst vitamin D deficiency "her doctors had ever seen", and a tibial plateau fracture due to low bone density, which was ironically reported by the same rag:

"Fad diets followed by millions of young women could be raising the odds of osteoporosis in later life, experts have warned.

Research shows that three in ten women are so desperate to lose weight that they are cutting out entire food groups.

The warning comes just weeks after Gwyneth Paltrow revealed she is suffering from osteopenia, a thinning of the bones that can be a forerunner to osteoporosis."

And elsewhere:

Quote
"Ms. Ferraretto believes that raw-food vegans put themselves at risk for fatigue and nutrient deficiency and, over time, osteoporosis. Gwyneth Paltrow, the famed actress, used to follow this diet, but she was forced to give it up in 2010 when she discovered that she had developed a condition that could potentially lead to osteoporosis." http://www.vegandoit.com/an-overview-of-the-raw-food-vegan-diet-plan

Paltrow's recipe blog, including lots of recipes with cooked meats:

Paltrow now eats a cooked low carb diet that includes plenty of meats, fish and other animal foods. The cookbook she just published that the article referred to includes many recipes containing cooked animal foods, such as grilled steak, of all things!

Erm, yeah, real similar to a raw vegan diet philosophy.  l)

Do you know how many s c vegans binge on animal foods, secretly, and then try to forget about it and hope for a fresh start towards the perfect vegan lifestyle? I met so many vegans that also say they will sometimes eat dairy/eggs/fish etc, but not for health issues but because they are invited etc, and then call themselves vegan and say "look how healthy I am".
My experience is that most vegans cheat/make "mistakes" , sooner or later, and that they can keep on doing the vegan thing - just because they are "making exceptions" and the body gets just enough to keep on going...
