Histamine Intolerance and terrible digestion. Need help!!
« on: May 05, 2013, 12:55:09 pm »
Hi everyone.

Thanks to an inflammation in my intestines and pancreas I'm in really bad shape and underweight.
Everything I eat makes me nauseous and severly bloated (think I might have candida)
I have also got Histamine intolerance which is only getting worse and worse. I'm reacting to the smallest amount of histamines in food (fish, chicken, egg whites, avocadoes, nuts, fermented foods...) I'm also allergic to milk, gluten, soy, nightshades...

Now I have been eating cooked paleo with melons, mangoes, parsnips, sweet potatoes, swedes, carrots, rapeseed oil, and super fresh turkey but I still feel terribly, can't gain weight and super bloated.

My body is shouting out that it wants raw food and I believe that this could help me. Everytime I eat something raw it feels like it's not staying that long in my stomach and I get more energy.
My problem is what to eat because any dark meet (beef, lamb, elk...) gives me stomach ache and fish is so high histamine that I get breathing difficulties.
Could it be that my stomach is only not used to eating dark meat (haven't eaten dark meat in almost 7 years) or could it be an allergy when I'm allergic to milk?? Should I just start to eat small amounts of raw meat and ignore the stomach pain?

I love fish and really really hope I could cure my histamine intolerance. Has anyone cured it with raw foods?

I really hope someone out there can help me!!

Your C

Probiotics.  Overdose on them. 5x to 10x maintenance dose is therapeutic dose.  2 days 1 brand, 2 days next brand, 2 days next brand, 2 days next brand.  Do for 2 - 3 weeks.

You can add high meat as one of your probiotics.

See what works for you.

There are three things that will help you.

1. Take a vitamin D supplement.  the Now brand works very well.

2. Go easy on the carbs, because carbs deactivate vitamin D.

3. Eat plenty of fat.  it increases the activity of vitamin D

My situation sounds identical to yours, this is what has helped me:

1. Take a good digestive enzyme with every meal, this helps immensely. I found enzymedica digest spectrum to work 10x fold better than any other brand, although it's expensive ;/.

2. Take 1-6 grams of fish oil with every meal. The fish oil helps to calm the system and soothe the digestive tract. I typically take 2 grams per day, unless my system if flaring up.

3. The only probiotic that has worked for me is the jarrodophilus EPS 5bil organisms per capsule. I usually take 30bil a day, although sometimes I'll up it to 60bil a day if I feel I need it. Depending upon how sick you are, this may initially make you feel much worse, although it's necessary to correct the gastrointestinal imbalance.

4. Take 5,000IU of Vitamin D3 per day. I've also found the NOW brand to be particularly effective and inexpensive.

5. Eat real sauerkraut or highly cultured vegetables with every meal if you can tolerate them. High meat will work too if you can stomach it, although I've found when you are really sick - your body tends to absorb cooked much better.

6. Cut out all food allergens completely.

6. Address the cause of your illness. I believe my imbalance was caused by my 8 amalgam filings. The mercury in the amalgam filings leached into my body, "priming" my immune system to any little allergen. So when I eat an allergen my immune system goes nuts. The mercury kills the digestive enzymes and beneficial flora in the body and replaces mineral locations in cells where a calcium, iron, selenium, ect... molecule would reside (this causes major havoc in the body).

Keeping carbs below 25g a day seems to be greatly beneficial for me

Dd you remove your amalgams?
If so, did you do chelation yet?
I believe my issue is a toxic or heavy metal poisoning too, but i don´t have any amalgams so it is only a feeling. I believe so because my eating disorders began when i was 1 year.  I didn´t want to eat almost anything and since then, i have been a bread-addict. I don´t know what could be the trigger but i am thinking on a vaccine or my mom´s amalgams......don´t know but don´t sure

I removed my amalgams two years ago and I'm still having problems.

I've only recently got my digestion functioning normally within the last couple of months.

I only began looking at chelation recently and have tried a few methods. All the methods I've tried are quite exhausting. I'm unsure of whether it is good to push the body or not (let the body detox on its own time, rather than chelate).

I found I can handle small amounts of chlorella, but it still is quite draining. I took ALA for a while but had trouble sleeping and gained weight.

It appears mercury can stay in the body for very, very long periods of time ;(.

have you tried sauna?  cilantro(just growing it and chewing the bajesus out of it daily?  have you thought about any orthomolecular ways to get rid of the mineral imbalances such as supplementing?

I found Vitamin E with selenium to be tolerable, but I'm wondering how beneficial this is at chelating heavy metals.

Most vitamin E is made from soybean oil, and it's unclear whether the Vitamin E from soybean oil is beneficial at all. Soy can be some pretty nasty stuff.

Thanks for all your great tips!!

1. I immediately started to take probiotics 1 tablet 50 billion CFU.
I also tried taking saccharomyces boulardii, I heard it's good for candida but I got so bad stomach cramps so I had to stop.
Also tried something called prebiotics (inulin, FOS, MOS) but also had to stop them because of severe bloating

2. Started taking D-vitamin 2000 IU, someone suggested 5000 so I'm gonna slowly increase.

3. I have been taking enzymes with every meal for a year. I never thought they could cause problems. Three days ago I was so fed up with my nausea and extreme bloating so I tried to eat without them. I felt soooo much better!!! Now I have more apetite, less nausea and less bloating. I have tried different brands but I get the same reaction. Seems like my body can't handle the enzymes.

4. Carbs seems to cause me the most problems. Someone suggested eating below 25 g per day. I would love to do this but I'm so scared of losing weight. I'm severly underweight and need to gain weight. Can I gain weight on a low carb diet?

/C

Hi there,
My son 6 yrs old seem to be suffering from HIT. We seems to get red hot ears or stomach cramps at certain times when he's consumed histamine containing food that day. I have looked at a number of web sites & forums and found lists of foods to avoid... Can anyone please tell me specifically what fruits and vegetables that have worked? Any medications or supplements that have worked?
Please help !! I'm really desperate.
Thanks
John73

Immune system overreactions are usually reduced by getting extra vitamin D and eating a high-fat/low-carb diet. Try to not eat a lot of plant foods, if possible.  Many of them seem to worsen such problems. Ultimately it varies from person to person as to which foods cause the symptoms, so some experimenting is usually helpful.

I take vitamin D for autoimmune issues, and it really helps.

John, have you tried a simple raw paleo elimination diet? I used to turn bright red and get heartburn if I ate provoking foods, and the worst offenders seemed to be cooked foods of any kind.  Raw paleo is a good safety net when it comes to avoiding a reaction, kind of a no-brainer, in that it automatically excludes irritating grains, legumes, and the things that get added to cooked meat and fish.

I'd use an elimination diet to learn how he tolerates fruits and vegetables, but make sure he gets a good base of raw meats and fats to grow on. You can try raw dairy or not... but remember that once milk molecules are heated in pasteurization, they become a bowel irritant because of changes in the protein. Many plant parts have natural defenses against being eaten, and these toxins can really irritate a sensitive person, too.

Six year olds can be eager or resistant to trying new foods, but if you enlist his cooperation, it can go easier. Letting him make a food chart or some other game will probably help if he gets weirded out by trying new things. Of course, it goes without saying that he will want to eat what you eat, so don't go smacking your lips over the foods that you don't want him to have.

I very strongly agree with CK on high fat and low carb to help get histamine levels low again.  I'm going to attempt to attach the best list I've found, but it's still very individual.  Also, the amount of a particular food is very important too, and can change if you feel a reaction or not.

Histame is a supplement that I've had great results with, but I don't think it is something to rely on. I used it to see if I had a histamine issue in the first place.  Histame is the brand name for the enzyme supplement that breaks down histamine. It has a lot of filler ingredients that I don't like. It does work though.

There are also probiotic blends that support the break down of histamine. You can do a google search on it. Most probiotic blends out there have strains that both positively and negatively effect histamine levels, so I don't think the ones in the stores are going to work, at least they don't for me.  I would have to order the specialty ones, so I haven't tried this yet.

Lastly, I've read that the underlying cause of histamine issues is with the liver. So, I'm working on making my liver happy which is with milk thistle atm.  But, I'm now going to try CK's vitamin D suggestion.

Hope this helps! It's very individual, so don't take any histamine list as some kind of authority on what your son can or cannot eat.

John,
Sorry to hear about your 6-year-old. Histamine intolerance is terrible.
For me the worst fruits and vegetables are bananas, avocados, tomatoes and eggplants. I have problems eating any kind of meat but frozen. I tried Histame but it doesn't help me at all. There are many lists but the best way is just by eliminating and reintroducing.

Ioanna,
intresting facts about the probiotics for histamine intolerance. What kind have you beeen using?

Everyone seems to suggest taking D-vitamin but my problem is that my receptors are deactivated according to my doctor. My calcitriol is skyhigh (above 300) So taking supplements only worsens my situation. (More about calcitriol on The marshal protocol)
