Just read about a Canadian minister who believed in UFOs - ah well, I never believed in politicians, they always seem as though power  inevitably went to their heads and turned them kooky. What is truly frightening is that now there is a credible claim that Ronald Reagan believed that we were  facing an imminent threat of alien invasion, supposedly inspired by his fascination for  old science fiction films. Apparently, he even asked  Gorbachev  to join him in defending humanity from alien invasion. Gorbachev, it seems, changed the subject,  somewhat unsurprisingly. Gorbachev  must have been absolutely terrified - I mean, here was the leader of the West, a man  who could at any moment press a little red  nuclear button on  his slightest whim, telling the poor man  that he believed in aliens. Apparently, Colin Powell would wisely delete any mention by Reagan in his public writings  of UFOs and extraterrestrials.

Incidentally, I do  absolutely believe that pilots  every now and then experience all sorts of things that cannot be easily explained by current modern science. it is just that I think that there are a myriad other possibilities/explanations for such sightings, other than UFOs.

Do I believe there are aliens somewhere in the universe? Sure. There's trillions of trillions of stars out there, and our star is pretty average.

Do I believe we've been visited? No. Aliens would realistically probably only come here if they had easy faster-than-light travel, and I doubt any species with technology like that would care what us primitives are doing here.

Since UFO stands for "Unidentified Flying Object", do you "believe" that the things seen:
-  are  identified?
- aren't flying?
- or not objects?

There's nothing to believe or not believe!

CK,

LOL!  ;D Ever heard of anthropologists either? What about our Animals scientists? What about our astronauts on a lifeless rock such as the moon and about our desire to send some to Mars and elsewhere? Can't you imagine that there could be other things than us worth caring for on this planet?  ;)
Cause and effect are distant in time and space in complex systems, while at the same time there’s a tendency to look for causes near the events sought to be explained. Time delays in feedback in systems result in the condition where the long-run response of a system to an action is often different from its short-run response. — Ronald J. Ziegler

I mean they are wrongly identified. I am sure they are flying objects of some sort, whether meteorites or whatever.
