Potassium
« on: June 11, 2013, 11:16:06 pm »
I've really been craving bananas lately. The other day I ate A LOT of bananas over the course of a few hours. What are some ways to ingest more potassium?

Lol I was thinking of other foods. I've been eating a lot of bananas, and want to find another source of potassium.

are you sure that's why you ate so many bananas? is it possible that it it isn't that you aren't eating enough or blood sugar issues making you crave them? just curious, munch on some dandelion, leaves, root, flowers, its all edible, also fennel bulb, avocado or jicama

Swiss chard and spinach are both good for potassium and they won't send you blood sugar up; they also supply a lot of magnesium as well which works very well.  Spinach is also a good non dairy provider of calcium. Popeye knew a thing or two.

I don't think it's blood sugar related. Although it was on a day where I only ate 2 meals, and I noticed I eat more carbs on days I eat less animal foods.

I keep foods around specifically for "macromineral" purposes.  My electrolytes were way out of balance.  Still working on them.  I don't worry about sodium too much.  Just eat sea salt if you crave it.

POTASSIUM: bananas, swiss chard, avocados, PAPAYAS, mushrooms, salmon; cooked stuff would include yams, potatoes, and certain beans.

When they are high-Brix, at least 12 Brix or so, I agree.
