Another appeal to members
« on: September 08, 2013, 06:25:04 am »
Once more, could members here please try to correct  any spelling-errors after each post?  It`s forgiveable if a foreigner does it, to some extent, but someone with English as a first language  really ought to know better. Also, it creates the wrong impression to non-members if we all write rubbish like "coz" for "because" etc.

I feel sometimes overwhelmed when I  have to correct a number of  members` posts here and there.

I often correct the grammar and spelling of posts that I agree with, and leave the errors in posts that I disagree with.  ROFL

Yes, I have often been compelled to do  exactly that, especially if there are just too many spelling-errors committed that day for me to waste time with.   ;)  It`s those whose posts I generally agree with who I am more annoyed with as they are articulate enough to know better.

IMO it only looks/sounds ugly because we are judging it.
Stopping judgment would allow the core meaning of the message to emerge in all its splendor.
Language aesthetics and grammar are just a neolithic  human invention.

Actually non-members view bad spelling and poor use of language as a sign of poor education and low intelligence, even if the cause might just be carelessness. I and other non-rawpalaeos have come across many other websites with bad English in them and there is a definite impression of moronic behaviour caused by the bad spelling etc.

Yep.  We reduce the effectiveness of our message if we write like people who are ignorant.

I see your point guys.

The society constantly teaches us that education equals intelligence, but IMO that s a tragic mistake and civilized people committed (and still commit)  the worst genocides ever in the name of "progress" and "agri-culture".

So far, I found that intelligence is a natural, spontaneous  faculty in all living creatures that later  - to one extent or another - becomes trapped by artificial man made rules, beliefs and customs.

In other words intelligence comes with freedom.
Stupidity with slavery.
