Hello -- new to the site

Hey everyone-

I have been experimenting with the Primal Diet (AV style) on and off since 1998. Had a real good run in 2002 for a year (98%+) and another solid run from 2006-2009 (100%) and am just getting back on 100% again (for the last 3 months). I haven't been below 75% during that any of that time except the first year I joined the military in 2003 (not in the military anymore).

I can tell you when I am on the diet for more at least a month I start to notice big physical changes: better sleep, nicer skin and hair, fewer pimples if any -- unless detoxing, and I feel like acceptable in photos where otherwise I usually am critical of how I look (after about 6 months).

I know AV was against fasting and enemas. Curious if any of you have ever experimented with that and what your results were? AV says that it disturbed the bacteria in the colon and that the bacteria in the colon are responsible for feeding the nervous system (don't remember the details) and that people who do enemas get paranoid. I know AV shot from the hip a lot without evidence. I guess that 80% of the time he was dead on. But I am sure 20% of the time he could have just been making a conclusion based on his experience but not totally accurate.

Look forward to lots of interesting conversations.

I have done well with fasts in the past. I do not do them any more, which is probably a bad thing.

I also have done a fair amount of fasting.  In my experience, it tends to solve a lot of problems, but only for the time that you are fasting, and for a short time after.  I have nothing against it, though, as long as it's not done to excess.

I don't recommend enemas or colonics, except as a last resort. Correct the diet to deal with constipation.

If you are going to do any fasting, you should do it in a clean environment, like outside the city.

Water fasting only with pristine water at pristine locations.

Otherwise diluted juice fasting may do.

Water enema to make sure you eliminate / poop every day during fasting or else the waste recirculates in you... not good.

Your mileage may vary, it depends if you are at a stage where you need to fast.

1 day a week of intermittent fasting may do some people some good.

Many ways to fast.

You're welcome here!

Cause and effect are distant in time and space in complex systems, while at the same time there’s a tendency to look for causes near the events sought to be explained. Time delays in feedback in systems result in the condition where the long-run response of a system to an action is often different from its short-run response. — Ronald J. Ziegler
