i like what i do, and yet i so hate working! it gets in the way of 'living', except for the income part  :D

I understand.... that is why I work very little... but I do a lot! lol I think your are lucky to like what you do, this is important or you would not last long.
Maybe the issue with most works are we have too little possibility to be creative and we are too much inside in buildings/away from nature..... To find a work where you get both of those two things, that would be a dream.

In our provinces house wifery is still somewhat popular.

here it's becoming the norm that married people don't combine their finances, everything stays separate. a male friend of mine just yesterday said 'i don't know how to make that work' re house wifery.
