Frogs
« on: December 30, 2013, 02:03:19 pm »
I am curious if anyone here eats raw frogs, and what kind of frogs are safe to eat raw (if any).
I particularly like the idea because in theory eating a whole frog gives you the whole package as we might have evolved on in nature - frog eyes, liver, skin, as well as ample muscles. There wouldn't be any need to mix raw cow liver with beef every now and then, you could just snack on tiny frogs all day long.

Seems it would also be pretty easy to breed them yourself if you wanted to, all you'd need is to dig out a pond and supply the initial population.

(I have never eaten a frog, maybe I am barking up the wrong tree..frog)

Have you seen frogs? They are not so appealing, especially not skin, eyes.. Barbecued frog legs are really good and tender though. They are very easy to catch in the wild, especially when it's their mating time around April-May. In an hour around that perioud I've caught 1-2kg of frogs with just a handmade fishing rod.

after some research, it appears they harbor parasites so you have to cook them for safety

Freezing kills parasites. Every animal harbors parasites. How dangerous they are is somewhat up in the air. Might have liver flukes which are pretty bad but a healthy body can probably  deal with them. Although, I have seen the damage they can do and you don't want your liver torn up. You can actually get them from eating salad as their eggs are left in the slime trails of snails.

I am the source, I eviscerated a goat and saw a torn up liver populated with flukes.
here is a picture of a cow liver they cut to show the internal damage the flukes cause.

Now remember, vegans are actually more prone to this than we are. It's a disease of leaf and snail eaters mainly. Avoid flukey livers and leaves where snails live and you will avoid fkukes! Actually eating flukey livers may not even be harmful, but god damn it would be disgusting.

We are always free to pick and choose.
Never eat the meat of a "diseased" animal.
When I go to buy livers in the wet market I choose only the clean healthy ones.
The meat sellers know what I'm looking for.
