Birch water isn't new to Belgium's eco community.

Last year I even went foraging for some with a friend of my parents, who says it's a good way to detox after the winter days.
I think it's also supposed to be good for your immune system or something.

just dig a hole in the birch tree's bark, put a plastic tube in the hole and it will fill a 1L bottle in 24h or a bit more, depending on the tree.

I don't intend to forage for some anymore, but apparently it's liquid gold. If you know where to sell it people will pay a lot for a 1L bottle.

I wouldn't call any food a "superfood" for many obvious reasons. But the way you are introducing it here as "foolish" - now this is foolish.
Have you drank it yourself? I bet you haven't...

Probably because, as I, Tyler doesn't picture our ancestors of the paleolithic digging up holes in trees to get a few barely nourishing drops of sap. Or it might've been at the very bottom of fall-back foods, as you would need a recipient, and something to drain the sap to enjoy it... and a lot of time on your hands. So if another more nourishing food was around, and easier to obtain, these people would've likely opted for it instead, and tree-sap foraging would not have been retained as a practical, or satisfying way to nourish oneself.

JK is right re my stance. It makes far more sense to hunt/forage for more interesting, more easily available foods. I will admit, though, that I do not want to see vast artificial forests of birch just being planted for the next superfood-fad. Planting coconut and palm trees has already wiped out entire ecosystems.

I have had chaga its a tea made from a fungus that grows on birch. It is very good tasting and is suppose to have many magical properties.
